Johnson Sr. passed away at his home at Canyon Lake on Friday November 25,2005 at the age of 85. He was born August 5, 1920 in Houston and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Elizabeth Wanda (Guokas) Sayers and Philip Edgar Sayers, Sr. in Aldine, Texas. He married Doris Lanell Kelley April 5, 1941. Mr. Johnson retired from Superior Oil Company and he and Doris moved to Canyon Lake from Houston in 1979. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Doris of Canyon Lake, I son, Wayne Johnson and wife Elizabeth of Stoneham, Texas, 2 daughters, Sherry Cloud of Houston and Pam Somers and husband Jack of Canyon Lake, 3 grandchildren, Kelli Seeger and husband Jerry of Canyon Lake, James Johnson and wife Tracy of The Wood lands, Texas and Lanell Keys and husband Greg of Westfield, Texas, 4 great grandchildren, Jesse Seeger, Shelby Seeger, Paige Keys and Cody Keys and I brother, Philip Edgar Sayers, Jr. and wife Helen of Houston. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers, Kenneth Johnson, Ralph Johnson and Tommy Sayers. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 3,2005 at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home at Canyon Lake. Rev. Don Ofsdahl will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hope Hospice, 611 N. Walnut Ave., New Braunfels, Texas 78130. COLONEL (RET.) ALFRED C. “AL” BAKER JR. Colonel (Ret.) Alfred C. “Al” Baker Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday November 27,2005, in the loving arms of his wife, Molly - liis companion in love, life and adventure for 59 remarkable years. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, March 22,1923, he began his flying career at age 20, flying P-40s in China as a member of the famous Flying Tigers. After WWII, Al Doeppenschmidt FUNERAL HOME Canyon Lake (830) 964-3050 returned to Birmingham and met and married the love of his life , Molly Roberts, RN. Al rejoined the U.S. Air Force for a career that spanned 36 years, commanding fighter squadrons in Vietnam, stateside and Europe. At the end of his career, Al was Deputy Director of Safety, USAF, retiring in 1979 near San Antonio, Texas. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Distinguished Flying Cross among other service commendations. Al and Molly and their three children: Alfred C. “Chip” Baker, III, Robert M. Baker, and Debra Baker Crisler, traveled the world, forming an extremely strong aand enduring family bond. Al Baker simply loved his wife and children - and, of course, flying airplanes. His family is overwhelmed by the many people, friends and casual acquaintances alike, who have expressed how fortunate they were to have known him. Indeed, how fortunate we all have been to have had him in our lives. Colonel Baker will be buried with full military honors on Thursday, December I, at 2:15 pm. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. IRVING WAYNE WEST Funeral arrangements are complete at the Zoeller Funeral Home for Irving Wayne West, who passed away at the age of 48 years. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Zoeller Funeral home. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Harris, of Van Alstyne, Suzanne Powell, Jeanette Powell, of New Braunfels and Mark Powell of Charleston, S.C. Grandchildren are Brian Glass, Philip Harris, Glenn Evan and Evelyn Powell, Jason Burket and Hannah Powell. He also leaves behind faithful K-9 companion, Baby. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Kapoor and his great chemo nurses and to Dr. Talley and Dr. Narvaiz for their loving care.
