Soefje selected as Spirit of‘76 Patriot of the Year New Braunfels High School graduate Alan Soefje has been selected as the Spirit of ‘76 Patriot of the Year by tin Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. Soefje is a member of the group’s San Antonio chapter. rile foundation honors one recipient ('very year for outstanding service to the community and exemplary citizenship. Soefje currently lives in San Antonio where he is active in The Boy Scouts of America, the Lions Club, MO WW, the Knights of Columbus and his local church. After graduating from NBHS in 1950. Soefje attended Texas A&M University and received his law degree from St. Mary’s University. He then spent 31 years in the Air Force. Soefje made a second career in education, teaching in classrooms from the elementary level to college. The Freedoms Foundation is a not-for-profit organization with L000 inembers in .ti local chapter across the country.
