Elder recognized for leadership, service Bob Elder of New Braunfels was recognized Animal Health Institute for 30-years of leadership and service. The award is given annually to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the field of animal health. Elder, who recently retired from Schering-Plough Animal Health in Omaha, Neb., moved to New Braunfels in May with his wife, Bonnie. As associate director for regulatory affairs at Schering-Plough, Elder was in charge of government relations for the company. Elder is a past-president of the Veterinarian-Bilogocial Section of the Animal Health Institute and served two years as chairman. American Health Institute is a trade organization that represents manufacturers of animal healthcare products used to produce a safe supply of meat, milk, poultry and eggs for use by vetera-narians to prolong the healthy life of animals. As a 30-year member of AHI, his. award was in recognition for 30 years of service and leadership to the organization. Elder earned his bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Texas Tech University in 1965.
