Parade photo foretold 'ttmitmanto fate Ten years ago, 5-yeai>old Nicole Thmt-man watched as the Smithson Valley marching band paraded in front of her during the annual Christmas parade in Satder. Probably like all little girls, she dreamed of being a drum major herself someday. The moment was caught by a Herald-Zeitung photographer, when he happened to take a photo of Nicole watching the band march by. The photo was published with the caption, "Waiting on the Band.” Now, IO years later, Nicole will be marching with the band. On Saturday, she will be leading the Smithson Valley marching band as one of the drum majors in the annual Christmas parade in Sattler. A sophomore in high school, the 15-year-old probably had no idea some day she would be marching in the same band that she watched pass by IO years ago. "Ten years ago, we had no idea she would even be in the band,” said Nicole’s mother, JoanTtanitman. — Scott Mahon Birthdays/Anniversaries HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO; ■ Christy Jones ■ Taylor Jones, 7 years old ■ Kaitlin Alston Schintgen, 7 years old ■ Sylvia Brehmer ■ Berry Robertson, 29 years old ■ TYey Weinand, 18 years old ktfo Bm HESAL&rZ&HJNG Residents are encouraged to shaw their accomplishments, special moments end community events.
