Rage 3A LOCAL CANYON LAKE COUNTY GETS GRANT FOR BOAT RAMP — Comal County has received a $371,250 grant to help pay for a new and improved boat ramp on the south side of Canyon Lake. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission made the award as part of $1.8 million in matching funds for boat ramp construction around the state. The Water-Oriented Recreation District has a preliminary design , for a new facility with an esti-, mated price tag of $496,000., Under terms of the grant, Texas; Parks and Wildlife would pay 75 t percent of the cost while Comal County picks up the remainder in cash or services such as construction or landscaping. The two-lane public ramp and 30-space parking lot would’ replace an existing facility in the Village West subdivision on the south shore of the lake near Sattler. It includes easier access for, vehicles pulling boat trailers and a wider and longer concrete ramp for loading and unloading. Precinct I Commissioner Jack Dawson said the new ramp would address a number of safety and convenience issues at the one currently located adjacent to the Turkey Cove Lodge. WORD.Vice President Charles Stephens said he hoped the ramp would be operating in time for the 2005 season.
