Youth director Mica Akridge and other volunteers have organized the event both years. This year, Akridge has added "centers” operated by church volunteers for young children to learn about pumpkins. The event is being put on during this month. The church is located in a beautiful, historic setting on FM 2252 between FM 482 and FM 3009. The pumpkins are sitting on a grassy area to the right of the church. Crates of small pumpkins used in the centers are sitting in an old pickup truck. “You have just got to see it,” one church member said. “We’ve been told that it’s the best pumpkin patch around.”    *    • The pumpkins are grown in New Mexico by Navajo Indians who hand pick them. Proceeds support youth mission trips and the pumpkin patch. More than 2,000 children have been signed up to attend through area schools. Cost: Tickets are $35 each, includes dinner.
