Conservation Plaza saves cut-stone home The New Braunfels Conservation Society is making preparations to move a historic cut-stone house to Conservation Plaza. Director Martha Rehler reported that the home, located off Schoenthal Road, would be moved this month. So far, no one has determined who built the limestone fachwerk home. Original owners could have been the Dierks or the Joungs. “Were they ranchers? Were they farmers? Or were they skilled craftsmen? Maybe the original owners built the house themselves. Who were the Joungs and what happened to them? At this point we don’t know,” Rehler wrote. “Thanks to the last owners of the house, Herman andToska Blank, and due to the efforts of the New Braunfels Conservation Society, the dedication of Texas Heritage Construction Company, Henderson House Moving and Hanson Serve-Tex Quarry’s concern and involvement in historic preservation, this 1850s home will be moved to Conservation Plaza in mid-October." Rehler said the house would be preserved to show pioneer life in the early days of New Braunfels. — Ron Maloney Birthdays/Anniversaries HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO: ■ Kevin L.
