wuide me why I got fentasy sports in the first place Years ago when I was a knowita41 sports fanatic coming out of high school I used to talk down on tasy sports The same jokes I heaj BRYAN ADAMS same onee I told more than 10 years why people play fantasy sports ago then I was on the other dont play fantasy sports to win about how money and J dont do it to prove to i1 everybody aroun4 me that I know more about sports than they do I high strung and inoet of the people I know play a t i tii mQjp fantasy sports because it some thing to do with your friends Once you move past high school and go beyond college friends seem to fade away more often than they appear While most of the guys in my fantasy sports leagues are married or holding down multiple jobs I myself cherish the live drafts and midseason parties we have because its a rare opportunity to catch up with friends If you havent already organized a midseason fantasy baseball party you might want to consider it Even if if s just 8 bunch of people getting together on a Sunday afternoon to watch baseball youll be happy you did Or have everybody meet after work on July 8 to watch the AllStar game at a sports bar Last year the team owners in our league had a tailgate party before a San Antonio Missions game and then got a group rate on some choice seats behind the thirdbase dugout Believe me it was a day Ill never forget Not just because all of my closest friends were there and we took home some timeless stories we tell every day but because I was there with my best dad Before my senior year in high school my parents got a divorce anj things were a little weird between my dad and I He got soon afterwards and then divorce4 again so there wasnt much we felt comfortable talking about But no matter how many longf awkward pauses we had between us we could always break the icifc by talking baseball Fantasy baseball only strengthened that bond anJ really helped us become friends Thanks dad i Brypn Adams is the sports editof for the New Braunfels Herald J
