away Friday June 27 2003 at McKenna Memorial Hospital She was born May 6 1921 to Ila Elisabeth Edmondson and Ches ley Clyde Yeargain of Fort Worth Texas She was a mem ber of the Canyon Lake Unit ed Methodist Church Nan was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years J L Jumbo Evans Jumbo and Nan moved to New Braunfels in 1963 and she became very active within the community She belonged to the Comal County Fair Association Antiques Division Goodwin Homemakers New Braunfels Garden Club the Nekodah Temple Daughters of the Nile Guadalupe Valley Nile Club New Braunfels African Violets Club the Egg Guild and her bridge club Nan is survived by her daughters Wanda Kras niewiez and husband Vince of Calabash North Carolina Sandy Whelan of New Braunfels grandchildren Art Krasniewiez and wife Cindy of Scottsdale Cathy Oxley and husband John of Indianapolis Brett Krasniewiez and wife Shas ta of Mill Valley Raina Rogers and husband Jere my of New Braunfels and Dawn Howell and husband Richard of San Antonio and greatgrandchildren Jack Oxley and Cody Whelan A memorial service will be at 11 Monday June 30 2003 at Zoeller Funeral Home There will be a pri vate burial at a later date at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery In lieu of flowers memori als may be made to Hope Hospice 611 N Walnut New Braunfels or to the charity of ones choice railroad depot becomes a historic landmark JL SPECIAL r6 THE HERALDZEITUNQ The old International and Great Northern Railroad Missouri Pacific depot has been designated a historic landmark by the City of New Braunfels A lot of time money and energy was expended to return the building as near its original appearance as said an official of the New Braunfels His toric Railroad and Modelers Society Designation of the depot as a historic landmark was the first step to getting a state historical marker and a designation in the Reg istry of Historical Places The building which offi cials said they feel is archi tecturally significant is one of the first depots built from cement blocks faced with cement tiles Many depots built before the turn of the 20th century and its early years have disap peared Were fortunate to have such a building in our com said one NBHRMS official The old International and Great Northern Railroad Missouri Pacific depot was built in 1907 to replace an 1881 building It served pas sengers to and from New NEW BRAUNFELS Mayor Adam Cork conducts the offi cial unveiling of the plaque at the New Braunfels Railroad Museum Saturday morning on San Antonio St The nearly centu ryold railroad sta tion is recognized as a historic land mark by the City of New Braunfels to the NBHRMS in 1985 The NBHRMS spent the last 18 yearn restoring the building and erecting a museum to memorialize the role of railroads in local arid national history The NBHRMS sponsors restoration and display of railroad artifacts to tell the story of railroads The Blue bonnet Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society oversees the muse ums operation The society also sponsors two model railroad groups HO and N scale They maintain the museums lay outs These groups are fre quently invited to particle pate in local and shows and festivals They promote tourism by participation in the activi ties of the Texas Rait tourism Association the state Local schools civic groups Boy and Girl Scouts groups and other heritage and historical museums work with the NBHRMS to promote the community Its annual Railroad Jam boree attracts rail asts from Texas and other states K JESSIE Braunfels until the Missouri Pacific ended passenger ser vice in 1960 It then served the railroad as a freight depot and office until 1984 when it was giv en as a gift to the city by the Missouri Pacific Rail road The city leased the depot
