and Bike Trails project A timeline for the project has not been set Abo this week City council approved the final reading of an ordinance prohibiting cruising in parts of the citys parks with a penalty of Under the ordinance viola tors must show purposeful engagement in cruising between the hours of 7 and on weekdays and between noon and Saturday and Sunday Cruising is defined as pass ing a designated point more than two times during any twohour period Another ordinance was passed giving park rangers authority to issue citations for violating city park and traffic regulations The New penalties begin accruing Tax statements for the New Braunfels Independent School District and City of New Braunfels were mailed last week said NBISD Tax Collector Betsy Caldwell The taxes which are due upon receipt begin accruing penalties and interest Aug 1 Post office postmarks will be used to determine the timeliness of the payment School district and city taxes are based upon 2002 property values as estab lished by the Comal Appraisal District If New Braunfels property owners do not receive a statement they should con tact the NBISD tax office which also collects City of New Braunfels also said that if a person had a business or was taxed on business per sonal property and they no longer own the business or the property they will still be responsible for these tax es if the business was open on Jan 1 2002 or they owned the property on that date A tax office mail drop is available for payments made after hours or on weekends The drop box is located at the NBISD tax office
