Archives Anonymous BY BECKY LOMBARDO Special to the Herald- Zeitung I have gotten more information on the photos from a couple of weeks ago, and I’d like to let you know about them. I had a discrepancy of the make of the unusual car (AA-01-69), so I spent a couple of hours looking through the microfilm of the old newspaper to see if I could find the picture. I found it and the caption states “80 miles per gallon: Cecil Sparks stands beside his sister’s Isetta 300, a German-made automobile that had caused many a New Braunfels citizen to turn and stare recently.” There is another photo of it with Cecil inside and the door open, “only one door is built into the Isetta, but it opens the whole front end. Cecil Sparks demonstrates the one door action in which the steering wheel also leans forward. The Isetta has a standard type gear shift.” Also, Mary Helen Medina called to tell me that house (AA-01-68) is located on the corner of Butcher and Casteel. She said that it is now green and white. I’m going to go by and take a look at it. Thank you, Mary Helen. Those cute little bunnies (AA-01-70) are Scott Jarisch and Katherine “Ray” Krueger Stripling. The Exemplar Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and they hosted these style shows to benefit charities. Thank you, Marie Jarisch and Roxolin Krueger, for calling in the identification. But no one called in to identify the group of distin- guished-looking gentlemen (AA-01-71). Look again to see if you might recognize any one of them. Helen Zipp came in the other day wanting to know if we had identification on a group of 1958 Gray Ladies volunteers (AA-01-72). Do you recognize them? AA-01-73 is a group of FHA students from 1962. As always, keep reading, keep remembering and keep calling. Call us at 629-1900 or visit the Sophien-burg Archives, 200 N. Seguin, the old city hall building. AA-01-73 AA-01-71 AA-01-72 vi Civility in children’s presence helps lessen pain of divorce DEAR ABBY: While shopping at a mini-market last Sunday, I witnessed a scene that is re-enacted thousands of times every weekend throughout the country: the exchange of children by couples who are separated or divorced. The ritual might go quietly unnoticed; however, this particular couple argued, shouted obscenities, drove recklessly, and made a public spectacle of themselves while their three children sat in one car — and a “significant other” sat in the other.
