Archives Anonymous BY BECKY LOMBARDO Special to the Herald-Zeitung You are not going to believe the answer to one of the past pictures that was run. Remember when I was on vacation and Michelle had a picture of two red-haired children that were apparently twins (AA-01-58) and (AA-01-59)? Gloria de la Cerda called me and said that it is one child, Louie Trevino, and this picture was taken before and after his haircut. Thank you, Gloria, for helping us solve the mystery. The photo of the drum major and majorettes was from the New Braunfels High School class of 1959-60. The ladies are Mary Ann Voigts, Linda Guinn, Mary McCracken, Mary AA-01 -62 Lynn Thompson, Charlene Mueller (drum major), Jo Ann Penshorn, Joyce Vogel, Kathy Becker and Sharlynn Mendlovitz. Thank you, Charlene Mueller Fischer, Fred Baetge (who was their band director), Gloria de la Cerda, Betty Friend and Linda Bielstein. The children from Goodwin School (AA-01-61) had a class project to make this globe. The children are Arlon Baese, Sue Cone Schwab and Dorothy Wehner Oeklers, and their teacher was Mrs. Hyatt. A great big thanks goes to Len Heimer who provided me with all that information. With school right around the corner, I saw this little girl (AA-01-62) and it reminded me of the face of a child thinking, “I don’t want to go to school.” Do you recognize this cute little face from 1957? This group (AA-01-63) was at Schlitterbahn. This picture was taken in 1991, and I think the top of one of the plaques has “American Cancer Society.” I know that in the very back is Tim Brierty. AA-01-63 Rudeness at checkout occurs on both sides of the counter DEAR ABBY: Your reply to “Cashier With a Mission” was morally correct, since the person should not shortchange customers who talk on cell phones by “forgetting” to put items into their bag or “accidentally” charging them twice. My problem was a little different. I recently brought some items to the register in a bath and beauty shop at the mall. The girl behind the counter was using her cell phone. It was obviously a personal call. She rang up the items, took my money, bagged the merchandise and did not even bother to thank me, chatting on her cell phone all the while. As a matter of fact, she didn’t even look at me. — “CORAL” IN BOYNTON BEACH, FLA. DEAR CORAL: Of course civility is a two- Dear Abby way street. You would have done both yourself and the manager a favor had you politely pointed out that the store needs to upgrade its customer service.
