The conference’s focus is to help tourism professionals develop product, sales and marketing projects to diversify current market share. Breakout sessions include minority travel trends, strategies for developing cultural tourism packages, experience economy and cultural diversity. Creekview plans ribbon cutting The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, Inc. has been invited to participate in the open house and ribbon cutting ceremony at Creekview Veterinary Clinic, 1121 Eikel St., on Saturday. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 5 p.m., and an open house is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Chamber mixer scheduled The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, Inc. will have its monthly Business After Hours Membership “Mixer” from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre, 290 W. San Antonio St. Co-sponsoring the “mixer” with the Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre is Krause’s Cafe and New Braunfels Downtown Association. The mixer is an opportunity to meet, make new contacts and exchange ideas with other members of our business community. The chamber’s cash drawing is $50, and members must be present to win. RAP Council meets Wednesday The RAP Council (Retirees Are Progressive) will meet at 9 a.m. on Wednesday in Honors Hall. Charlie Gallagher, executive director of the New Braunfels Art & Music Museum, will brief the group on the museum’s history and give information on the upcoming exhibit. The RAP Council provides an opportunity for retirees to continue contributing their expertise to economic and community development activities. Chamber officers gather Tuesday The executive committee of The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of earning is Commerce, Inc. will meet at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Paula DiFonzo, this year’s chair of the board, will preside at the meeting. Joining DiFonzo as officers of the chamber in 2001 are chair-elect John Lovett of River City Builders; vicechair Ramon Chapa, Sr. of Chapa Electric; vice-chair John Dierksen of Reagan Burrus Dierksen Lamon & Bluntzer, PLLC; immediate past chair Dennis Heitkamp of JP Morgan Chase; and president Michael Meek. Trade show panels convene The general committee for the Chamber’s 13th Annual Business Trade Show will meet at noon on Monday to hear sub-committee chair progress reports. Lynn Limmer, chair of the committee, said, “The sub-committees have worked efficiently, and we expect this year’s show to be one of the best yet.” Limmer said tickets were available at the chamber office, and members of the committee also will have them. The sponsorship committee for the Business Trade Show is meeting on Wednesday morning to complete sponsor sales and discuss additional responsibility of planning a silent auction for the show. Donna Scheele, chair of the sponsors committee, said this was the first time an auction would be part of the event and will offer thirteen fine items for bid. She said an announcement of the items would be made within the next couple of weeks. YLNB applications still available Youth Leadership program applications are available at the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, Inc., for eligible 10th and lith graders in New Braunfels’ local school systems. Bette Spain, chair of the YLNB committee, said that more than 200 young men and women applied for this past year’s class, and organizers anticipate even more applications for the class of 2002. The deadline to submit an application is Sept. 7. ‘It’s Your Business’ airs Tuesday The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce’s weekly radio program airs from 11:06 to 11:59 a.m. Tuesdays on KGNB.
