It was a good lesson. I hope people will learn not to handle a shark. It sounds obvious, but when you’re doing the fishing thing, and you handle a lot of fish, you tend to handle them all the same way. A shark just has a different mentality, I guess. “I think I was more shocked than anything. I think I couldn't believe he just turned around bit me.” Stigall and his buddy, John Mezak had been handling a lot of fish during their week-long fishing trip. JESSIE SLATEN/Herald-Zeitung A witness told police the driver of this Isuzu Hombre seemed to nod off and drift into the oncoming (southbound) lane of the access road to IH35. The truck’s driver then over-corrected and crossed into the dirt, rolling once. The driver was conscious and breathing when rescue personnel arrived. weather was perfect,” Stigall said. At dawn Friday, Stigall and Mezak moved further out from the island, to the third sandbar. Inexplicably, despite the great conditions and the heavy action they had been experiencing, the fishing was quiet. Stigall thinks now that maybe the shark or sharks and driven the game fish away. He is not sure. Officials in Galveston report only one documented shark bite in 22 years. Stigall    K    JESSIE    SLATEN/Herald-Zeitung points out that he still regards stigall held up his hands to display the approximate length Galveston as safe, and he 0f tj-,e shark that bit him on his right thigh in Galveston, thinks everyone else should, too. “I have a concern because we love Galve-    water and fish like climbing back on a ston so much.
