municipal water customers are to use the following schedule Saturday addresses ending in Sunday addresses ending in 5 6 7 8 9 Monday no watering Tuesday addresses ending in Wednesday addresses ending in 3 4 5 Thursday addresses ending in 8 9 Friday no watering NBU customers are not allowed to water between 9 and 7 unless they are using handheld hoses soaker hoses buckets or drip irrigation systems Comal County residents who have wells on the Edwards Aquifer are required to abide by the Edwards Aquifer Authoritys drought management restrictions which allow for watering on these days Monday addresses ending in 0 or 1 Tuesday addresses ending in 2 or 3 Wednesdays address es ending in 4 or 5 Thursdays addresses ending in 6 or 7 Fridays addresses ending in 8 or 9 Landscape watering can take Board violates Open Records GALVESTON AP Galvestons Park Board of Trustees violated the Texas Open Records Act when it denied a newspapers request to release documents about the distribution of beach user fees the office of Texas Attorney General John Cornyn has ruled On March 9 The Galveston County Daily News had sought release of the documents which played a significant role in the boards decision to settle a lawsuit against Bettah Beach which is contracted by the board to man age Apffel Park The newspaper claimed the park board was intentionally cir cumventing the open records law by denying their request John Greytok special assistant attorney general for litigation agreed As public officials the trustees have a duty to uphold the law all of the law including the Public Information he wrote They have failed in that duty in this case and the trustees should consider this public list of violations to be a formal admon Greytok said the board further violated the act by not immedi ately turning over documents that were clearly public namely depo sitions taken in the case The Daily News in Saturday editions said it took the board about three months to give the newspaper access to documents the boards lawyer Bill Jones said were covered by the request Greytok also said the board violated the act in a March 21 request for an opinion by not sending along even a sample of the requested information so the attorney generals office could determine whether they were subject to public disclosure When the state office ruled the documents were public the park board again broke the law by ask ing it to reconsider Greytok con cluded However Greytok said the board had not broken several other procedural deadlines as alleged by the newspaper Charles Daughtry attorney for The Daily News said he was pleased with the attorney gener als ruling The public has a right to know what its govern mental officials are NBISD taxes due today The last day to pay 1999 New Braunfels ISO and City of New Braunfels taxes is Monday according to Director of Tax Collections Betsy Caldwell Both school and city taxes are due at the same time even though taxpayers have two statements one for NBISD and one for the City of New said Caldwell Even if a taxpayer has not received a tax statement taxes are still due on Monday If property has recently been purchased in either the New Braunfels ISO or within the city limits the statement may have been sent to the previous owner However the taxpayer is most likely responsible for these taxes as they would have been prorated over from the previous she said Taxes can be paid at the tax office located at 407 W Mill St Call for more information at 625 6714 If payments are mailed the envelope must be postmarked by July 31
