New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - June 23, 2000, New Braunfels, Texas Friday, June 23, 2000 — Herald-Zeitijng — Page 7 AAround Town New stepfather gets an eyeful of daughter Dear Abby DEAR ABBY: I have a beautiful 20-year-old daughter. She’s currently home from college for a break. She spends a great deal of time in our back yard sunning by the pool and swimming. This is fine, but my concern is that she’s doing it in the nude. Now I am far from a prude, Abby, and do most of my own sunning and swimming in the nude as well. My concern is that I am recently remarried, and my daughter doesn’t bother to cover up when my new husband is home. She seems comfortable nude in front of him, but this is only the third or fourth time my daughter has met him. I am further conflicted because my husband obviously enjoys looking at my daughter while she’s naked. My husband has been constantly aroused, and this has been leading to some of the best sex I have ever had. When I thought we were falling into a rut, all of a sudden we’re making love twice a day. I love it! My daughter is home for one more week. I’m not sure whether to say anything to her or not. I’m certainly enjoying the side benefit of her exhibitionism. Should I just enjoy this week knowing that she’ll be back at summer school soon? —CONFUSED DEAR CONFUSED: Speak up now. By allowing this to continue, you are playing with dynamite. While your daughter has probably learned the habit of swimming and sunbathing in the nude from you, the fact that she is doing this in front of your new husband is extremely inappropriate. What if your daughter decides to spend other vacations with you? You won’t be able to let your husband out of your sight. And if he surprises you, and turns out to be capable of making love three times a day, it could mean the end of your marriage. Looking Back 125 years ago (1875): Translators: Carl and Ethel Saur While C.H. Heinemeyer of Hortontown was away from home last week an unknown trespasser entered the Heinemeyer house late at night and threatened the wife and children. The trespasser also stole goods and poisoned the family water well. ... Joseph Landa’s Mill Depot is located in an old store on the Market Plate selling cornmeal and wheat flour. ... Following a recent legislative action, New Braunfels is being considered as a site for the location of a Western Branch State Prison. IOO years ago (1900) Translator: Betty Pfeuffer Ttfesch The Annhalt Farmer’s Association is 25 years old this year and will celebrate at their fall festival. ... Much damage is done by large yellow and green grasshoppers. The only way to control them is to go into the fields at noon and kill them by hand. ... Phillip Zoeller, 81, died. Mr. Zoeller came to Boerne more than 50 years ago and was one of the first settlers of the town. ... Anna Marie Lux died at age 78 at Seidemann’s place. She was the mother of Carl Lux of Selma and ex-Sheri ff Seidemann of Guadalupe County. Mrs. Lux was buried on the Catholic side of Comal Cemetery. She had four children from her first marriage and five children from her second. 75 years ago (1925): Arlene Krueger Seales Births ... to Julius Streuer and wife, May 19, a girl.... The Landa Park management accomplished something new Sunday with their water carnival or Viennese fete, and those who attended will not soon forget the beautiful spectacle ROSEMARIE LEISSNER Gregory presented. ... The water parade consisted of 16 attractively designed floats constructed on boats, most of the designs being the original work of the Landa force, and the construction being done by Alf. Weidner and crew of the New Braunfels Wood Works, the art work and painting done by Geo. Eikel Schmidt. ... Harry Landa has never been one to count the cost when an idea presented which promised to spread the fame of this beautiful park and add to the pleasure of those who time after time journey long distances to relax in its soothing confines. That these ventures usually prove financially successful, as well as otherwise, is more an incident to the Colonel than the desire to have every feature worthy of the wonderful park on which he has lavished care and attention for many years. This latest innovation may well be recorded as having fully met all requirements. ... Estimates on the crowd present varied from 15,000 to 25,000, but the immense attendance, both during the day and night, was handled without an accident or disturbance of any kind. ... At the night performance, in addition to the floats and band concerts, a colorful display of fire works, with colored lights strung about the waters, made the artisti cally lighted floats skimming about the waters a sight that will not soon be forgotten. 50 years ago (1950): Rosa Linda De La Cerda The annual installation of officers of the Rotary Club and Ladies Night will be Wednesday night, June 28, starting at 7:30. Directors for the coming year are Dr. Louis Buck, Dr. James Lewis, and Clinton (Buddy) Naegelin.... With his blazing fast ball at its best, Wilburn Fischbeck led his John Deere team to a smashing 17-1 victory over league-leading Tiemann’s Home and Auto Store Thursday night, setting the top club down without a base hit. The right-hander lost a shutout in the sixth inning as he issued two bases on balls, accidentally hit a batter and one of his mates committed a field bobble. Fischbeck struck out 15 batters during the evening. 25 years ago (1975) Myra Lee Adams Goff Apparently in defense of New Braunfels’ future expansion potential, the Utilities board Monday evening unanimously approved a recommendation that the City Council consider “annexation in all areas around New Braunfels.” The recommendations that the city begin legal steps to increase its sphere of influence followed a discussion with the mayor of Schertz, Faust Restaurant and IVtic'ra-Brewery Hand-craftecJ Ales — Excellent Food Thursday Prime Rib Night!! * Fast and Healthy Lunch * Exciting Daily Features * Monday Dollar Pints ail Night * Daily Happy Hour 4:30-7:00 * Wednesday Martini Madness » Thursday Margarita Ville 240 S.
