University Motivation for Academic Performance MAP program which recognizes academically talented fourth and fifth graders MAP strives to assist with the development and support of talented fourth and fifth graders It functions as an informational resource pro gram by supplementing efforts in the participants homes schools and communities Participation in the MAP program provides information about enrichment opportunities and encouragement for gifted students To take part in MAP students must meet the following criteria attend school in the Duke University Talent Identification Programs 16state Talent Search region be in fourth or fifth grade when applying and scored at the 90th percentile or above on the national norms of a standard ized achievement aptitude or mental ability test
