Childs Welfare Club staged another beneficial and worthy success when assisted by the school children they gave a delightfully realistic indoor circus in the high school building Saturday night parade which was made up of clowns cowboys a band wagon and the circus elephant passing through the streets Saturday afternoon attracted a large crowd to the evening performance side shows opened at and were surprisingly good The main performance started at and many doting parents were surprised at the newly discovered ability of their acrobatic and talented offsprings performers consisted of tight rope walkers strong man trained animals among which the elephant attracted special attention skilled acrobats and Hawaiians Hawaiian music and Hawaiian dancing clowns to furnish the laughs and even a bunch of sprightly folly girls one of which gave a brilliant solo dance which was heartily applauded by the appreciative audience Mr Emil Eggelins 26piece juvenile orchestra furnished the music throughout the evening Louis Staats the cement man of New Braunfels last week finished 150 feet of cement roadway near Barbarosa and has been awarded in competition a culvert of two spans 3X6 this side of Solms in which about 40 yards of cement will be used Wm H Gebhardt the man who put San Antonio on the map with his chili powders was visiting with friends here last week Mr Gebhardt first started to put out his Mexican products in New Braunfels but was unable to get the financial backing here which was necessary to swing such a large proposition and was compelled to move to San Antonio Messers Wilhelm Altwein and Louis Mittendorf both well known New Braunfels musicians and who for quite a while have been traveling with the Christy Brothers shows are at home again and will spend the winter months with relatives Early in the spring they will again engage with the show Owing to the large number of people who could not get into Echo Hall for the German play given last week it will be repeated
