Independent School District will begin heading to the polls Wednesday to decide whether the district will get million in bonds to improve existing schools and build three new schools Last month the CISD board of trustees approved a bond election asking for a total of million to deal with anticipated growth in the district Voters will get to show support or opposition for four different pieces of Charges the package Proposition 1 asks for for the construction and equipment of school buildings in the district and purchase of the necessary sites This would include renovations to comply with health and safety code requirements and the Americans with Disabilities Act Proposition 2 would be for for the construction and equipment of a new high school and two elementary schools The price would include technology for the new schools Site selection committees have already begun looking for possible locations of the new schools The committee handling the new high school has found four possible sites and most are in Bexar County Proposition 3 calls for for technology upgrades at existing campuses Proposition 4 for included additional renovations and expansions of existing schools including band halls for elementary and intermediate schools exterior lighting and road and parking improvements for campuses From Page 1A Elbel allegedly tried to steal a fire truck and a tanker from the Canyon Lake Volunteer Fire Department station at Thursday His bond was set at Sheriffs office records say Elbel drove the new fire tanker through the doors of the fire station ran a stop sign and turned left onto Farm toMarket 2673 before flipping over the 1996 truck valued at Elbel had apparently tried to steal a fire truck in the station but abandoned that idea when he overheated the clutch sheriffs investigators said On Thursday afternoon a house fire on Canyon Lake Shores Drive claimed the life of 88yearold Lora May Pallone Harrel T Scott deputy fire chief of the Canyon Lake Volunteer Fire Department said on Friday the response time of the fire was delayed by four to seven minutes because of the loss of the damaged truck and tanker Comal County Sheriffs Office Lt Dennis Koepp said detectives are still looking to see if they can file criminal charges against Elbel relating to the fire We are still waiting for the fire marshals report and we would then have to sit down with the district attorneys Koepp said They fire marshal will give us a complete report and determine the exact cause of the fire and we will go from Fire Marshal Milton Willmann said the fire was accidental possibly caused by an overloaded electrical circuit Koepp said the county would need evidence that the loss of the equipment affected the outcome of the fire before it filed charges against Elbel To have a shot at this we would have to determine what the nature of the fire is and what equipment was Koepp said And if they didnt have access at the time would that have made a difference For the
