scheduled for 3 to 6 today at the Comal County Fairgrounds Arts and Crafts Hall Sponsor crews and alternate crew members will be trained in all aspects of hot air balloon handling They each will receive a certified card valid for two years showing they have completed an FAArequired program in order to participate in ballooning activities Potential crews need to remember to bring leather gloves Model home opens in The Heights Perry Homes has opened a new model home at The Heights at Oak Run west of New Braunfels offTexas 46 The Heights at Oak Run offers a family recreation center including a pool tennis courts and playground Homes range in size from approximately to square feet Awards committee to meet The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Awards Committee will conduct a meeting Wednesday at in Honors Hall The purpose of the meeting is to select recipients for the 1997 Hall of Honor Award as well as to select the Besserung Award recipient The Besserung or community betterment award is often referred to as the Outstanding Citizens Award for New Braunfels It is presented to an individual who is currently providing a significant contribution to the community WassailStop and judge the best recipe for Wassail a western European fruit punch drink The first second and third place winners will be announced on the Plaza at and door prizes will be awarded A variety of musical groups will serenade Wassailers offering everything from caroling to bell choirs Children will enjoy the hot air balloon provided by Glowfest and a free classic Christmas film
