Families of the deceased are urged to attend. The Fraternal Order of Eagles 2999 will have a joint Birthday Supper Monday. Cost is $2. The Canyon Lake Association of Retired Teachers and School Personnel will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Rio Raft Conference Room in Sattler. Call (210) 899-4796 for information. The Republican Men’s Club of • Comal County will meet at 7:30 :p.m. Tuesday at the Guadalupe Valley Telephone Cooperative on FM 3159 in Smithson Valley. Sheriff Bob Holder will discuss his first four months in office. New Braunfels Hermann Sons Lodge No. 21 will have a regular meeting at 3 p.m. May 4. A group of people with the desire to come together weekly for fellowship and study based on the 12-step model from a Christian perspective has formed “Bethesda Pool.” This group is open to the community and currently meets from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sundays at First United Methodist Church. The Hill Country Chorus, New Braunfels’ own chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the First Baptist Church’s Rice Hall on Cross Street. The group would like to have more men to help “Keep America Singing.” The Hill Country Chorus is in dire need of tenors; you do not have to be an accomplished singer to be a Barbershopper. Big, beautiful people and their admirers will be gathering on the first and third Saturday each month at Kramer’s on Perrin-Beitel in San Antonio. Anyone who has a friend or family member with Alzheimer’s disease is invited to sharecommon concerns, offer one another comfort and provide understanding in living with a care-giving situation. The Comal County Women’s Center offers an ongoing support group called “Letting Go” from 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays. This program is designed for women whose lives are being affected by violence or abuse of a physical, emotional or sexual nature, whether ongoing or in the past. The goal is to come together to share experiences, gain self-understanding, learn to cope with daily living and to learn problemsolving and stress management skills. A children’s group meets at the same time. We ask that you call prior to your first meeting if you will be bringing your children.
