Stearns son of Pat and Gladys Stearns of New Braiinfels recently received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Stearns was recognized for his outstanding achievement while serving as data analyst at Naval Air Facility Mildenhall United Kingdom Stearns was singled out for the award because of his superb initiative and contribution in helping the command fulfill its mission With a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Stearns joins a select group of men and women who havedemonstrated their outstanding ability to excel in serving on the NavyMarine Corps team He joined the Navy in January 1985 Air Force Senior Airman Alfred L Padalecki has arrived for duly with the 97th Transportation Squadron Altus Air Force Base Altus Okla Padalecki an air transportation journeyman is the son of Nita F Heap of New Braunfels and Alfred J Padalecki of La Vernia He is a 1990 graduate of New Braunfels High School Seaman Recruit Michael Fleming Navy Division 170 has been selected as Honor Recruit for his division The selection is based on individual performance of duty in all phases of basic training including leadership initiative military bearing response to orders sportsmanship general cleanliness qualification of a good shipmate and high overall scholastic standing It is a high honor to be selected from among a large group of young Sailors for this award Fleming is a graduate of Smithson Valley High School where he participated in basketball and football His graduation from boot camp was attended by his mother Joyce Fleming of Port Lavaca and his grandmother Nancy
