Bring a covered dish. An ornament exchange is optional. The Comal County Geneaology Society will not meet in January. The next meeting will be in February. The board of directors will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at 1000 N. Walnut Ave. The Breathing Easy AA Group is now meeting at 8 p.m. on Thursdays for smoke-free, open discussions at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church at 138 Austin St. in the CCD building at the comer of Austin and Union. For more information, call Connie at 606-0647. The Canyon Lake-Fischer Club for Family and Community Education is meeting Jan. 21 at the Fischer Store Community Center. Fellowship and coffee begins at 9 a.m., and the business meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Martha Ellis, program assistant for family and consumer sciences, will present a program on “Family Disaster Planning.” The meting is open to everyone. For more information, call the County Extension Office at (210) 620-3440. The Historical Outdoor Art Gallery/New Braunfels meets every third Thursday of the month. The Alzheimer's Support Group meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Anyone who has a friend or family member with Alzheimer’s disease is invited to share their common concerns, offer one another comfort and provide understanding in living with their caregiving situation. For more information, call Jan Harrison at 629-8 ISI. Members of the New Braunfels High School Class of 1959 meet at 8 a m. the first Saturday of each month at the New Braunfels Smokehouse. Why don’t you join us for breakfast and a time of sharing. Bring your spouse and kids if you want to. For more information, call 609-1325. The Republic of Texas provides information on the organization at a meeting at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the Guadalupe Valley Telephone Cooperative auditorium on FM 3159, just off of Route 46. Everyone is welcome. The New Braunfels Masonic Lodge No. 1109 meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at 1157 W. San Antonio St. Visiting Masons are welcome. The Comal County Women’s Center offers an ongoing support group called “Letting Go” from 6 to 7 p.m. on Mondays. This program is designed for women whose lives are being affected by violence or abuse of a physical, emotional or sexual nature, whether ongoing or in the past. The goal is to come together to share experiences, gain self-understanding, learn to cope with daily living and to learn problemsolving and stress management skills. A children’s group meets at the same time. We ask that you call prior to your first meeting if you will be bringing your children, lf you are interested and would like more information about this group, individual counseling or other services we offer, please call 620-7520. The New Braunfels Area Car Club meets at 7:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month at the Norwest Bank Building, 1000 Walnut Ave. Meetings are open to anyone with an interest in cars that are 20 years of age or older. Classmates and spouses of the New Braunfels High School Class of *42 meet at 6:30 p.m. the second Friday of each month at Krause’s. The class’ 55th reunion is set for April 11,12 and 13. The HIV/AIDS Support Group meets the first and third Wednesdays of each month. All those infected by the disease or affected by it are invited. For more information, call 625-8697. New Braunfels Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder meets at 7 p.m. the third Monday of each month at Oakwood Baptist Church. For more information, call Karen Owens at 629-2033. American Legion Post 35 and Auxiliary meets the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at 4210 F.M. 482. All veterans invited. The Equality of Life self-advocacy group for all handicapped people and those who support them in their endeavors to improve their lives meets the third Wednesday of every month at 511 North St. Call Julianne at 625-7394 for information.
