addition By DAVID DEKUNDER Staff Writer Unexpected delays in construction have pushed the opening of the new addition to the Tye Preston Memorial Library at least two more weeks Jim Campise president of the library board said the board had hoped to finish up the addition this month but circumstances have caused the delay Early February is what we are hoping Campise said Campise said workers are scheduled to knock down the wall between the library and the addition on Friday and Saturday The library will be closed on those days The library will then reopen until Jan 1 We will close it for the entire month of January to move books new shelves and get the carpet Campise said Despite the delay Campise said the project is still on budget The addition was funded through revenue from the Tye Preston Memorial Brick Parade project which raised by selling bricks or granite blocks to individuals or businesses The bricks and granite blocks to be placed in the main pathway leading to the library will bear the names of the donors The new addition will be used as a meeting room study room and expanded childrens area When it is completed the childrens reading area will double its size Council to consider cuts in electric rates By ABE LEVY Staff Writer The New Braunfels City Council is scheduled Monday night to consider reducing electric rates for all New Braunfels Utilities customers The NBU Board of Trustees approved the plan on Nov 26 at its regular meeting in light of lower power prices offered by the utilitys wholesale supplier The proposed decrease must be approved by three readings of City Council and would mean a reduction of on an average monthly bill of kilowatts The decrease would be proportional to larger commercial and industrial customers officials said If council approves the measure in three successive readings the earliest the proposed rates would take effect is Jan 27 for the February billing cycle The Lower Colorado River I Authority sells the power to NBU which expects to save up to The proposed decrease which must be approved by the City Council in three readings would mean a reduction of on the average monthly electric million from the
