the boaf4 ofjtttJstees for the Comal Independent School District at their meeting 1996 Recognized Educational Diagnos ticians and Associate School Psychol ogists the Canyon Varsity Football Team Canyon Varsity Volleyball and the Canyon Aristocats Dancetdatn The Canyon Music Booster Club presented a report detailing funds raised by the group during the 199596 school year Received a report on building committee minutes for February 23 and 29 1996 Received a report ort the various building projects in the district Discussed the possible renaming of Bulyerde Primary after the Rahe family for their dedication to educa tion The item will be placed on the April 15 workshop agenda for possible action Lois Duggan addressed the board concerning various laws she feels have been violated She also told the board three actions that could be taken to prevent any further legal action Approved agenda for the March board meeting Approved the minutes as present ed for the meetings of the Comal ISD board of trustees of February 5 and March No action was taken on a patrons request for approval of a Resolution Regarding Traditional Teaching The board did decide to form a committee to look into Traditional vs Outcome BasedEducation philosophy further to develop standards to measure poli cies and programs Approved financial statement arid expenditures for the month of February Approved the tax office report Total taxes collectedwere Board member Thomas Bruce expressed an interest to see a report on the amount of money being spent on legal fees in the last 10 years No action Was taken Approved budget amendments to the 199596 budget as presented Approved the application for Waiver that allows for four staff devel opment and six early release days dur ing the 199697 school year Approved a school calendar for 199697 School begins August 15 and ends May 30 Approved the election of Region XIII Board of Directors for Places TWO and Five by secret ballot Approved the 199697 outofdis trict student tuition charge of with authorization to make an adjust ment should the actual tuition calcula tion be lower Approved the Peer Helpers Pro gram proposal Approved the updated Board employment policy as presented by the administration Approved the board policy CDA Local as presented by the adminis tration Approved Abel Campos Ron Graham and Jo Schwab as authorized employees to perform investment func tions for the Comal Independent School District i Approved the bids for the 199697 Nurses Supplies Bid opened March and awarded the bid Approved the bid for the water well No 4 at Bulverde Schools Approved the low bid submitted by Bluebonnet Motors in the amount of Approved the development of two athletic practice fields on existing Smithson Valley High School Prop erty
