Comal County Commissioners Court on March Approved claims Approved amendment to Plat Whispering Hills combining Lots 91 and 92 into Lot 91R Acknowledged a new hire for the Sheriffs Department and a new Juve nile Probation Officer and authorized the County Judge to sign the new hire checklists and job descriptions as appropriate Approved the private street name assignments of Estrellita Ranch Road and Thunder Canyon Road However there was some question regarding the fact that both names exceed the maxi mum letters per name Opened proposals for Law Enforcement and Public Officials Lia bility Insurance the Environmental Health Department to issue permit to con struct for onsite sewerage facility for pending vacate and replat of Lots 37 and 40 Canyon Springs Resort Unit3 Approved Facilities Use Agree ment with the Canyon Lake Little league for the temporary use of Coun ty property adjacent to the Justice of the Peace Precinct No 4 in Sattler TX and authorized County Judge to sign This area will be used until a park is completed in the area Approved amendment to the Law Engineering Inc proposal for the Faust Street Bridge engineering study and authorized the County Judge to execute said agreement Accepted a donation of to Dare Program from Mr Jerry Kim ble the use of the parking lot located behind the Old Comal County Courthouse for Youth ArtBeat 96 Considered draff of Interlocal Agreement by and between Comal County and the Fresh Water District and approved Resolution authorizing and supporting the sub mission of a grant application to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs for a water supply enhancement project and authorized a designated representative to act as the Countys Executive Officer and autho rized representative in all matters per taining to the Countys participation in the Community Development Pro gram and authorized County Judge to sign Adopted Resolution requesting a reduction in speed limit along Highway 281 within Comal County from the Blanco County line to the Guadalupe River Adopt Proclamation to proclaim April 1996 as Child Abuse Prevention Approved 1995 year end line item transfers to adjust negative balances Went into executive session as authorized by Section of the Local Government Code concerning security devices and concerning secu rity for the Comal Appraisal District offices Obituary Victor William Burton Victor William Burton of New Braunfels passed away Friday March 29 at New Brauntels at the age of 77 years He was bom Feb 17 1919 in Keamy to Edward Burton and Mary Daly Burton He married Eleanor Hauck Oct 4 1945 in Pitts burgh Pa Mr Burton was a retired director of purchasing for John Brown Engineering previously known as Crawford Russell Engineering and was a member of Sts Peter Paul Catholic Church He served in the Army during World War II Mr Burton was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Turtles He is survived by his wife Eleanor Burton of New Braunfels fighting air pollution in El Paso and its sister city across the Rio Grande Ciu dad Juarez Negotiators announced Friday an agreement to form an international committee to help manage the air in what will be called the Paseo del Norte airshed The agreement is the first between the United States and Mexico to share an airpollution reduction plan for a border area officials said I think its finally reached the point where we are gong to be doing some thing were going to be able to work directly with said Jesus Reynosos air quality director at the El Paso citycounty health department The accord would be formalized by an exchange of diplomatic notes pos sibly within the next month Reynosos said Top environmental and foreign affairs officials of both countries are to sign the agreement during an interna tional conference May 67 in Mexico City Under the agreement if money is earmarked for El Paso but would be better spent in Juarez the committee would make that recommendation to the federal agency providing the funds The Environmental Protection Agency has classified El Paso as a nonattainment meaning that it exceeds federal limits for pollution Honoring the Dillens A plaque was recently
