New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - January 31, 1996, New Braunfels, Texas Herald-Zeitung □ Wednesday, January 31,1996 □ 9Archives Anonymous By MICHELLE OATMAN JOHN MOLER, photographer Special to the Herald-Zeitung We are really on a roll! Not only did we get IOO percent identifications on last week’s pictures, we got an ID for “The Happy Couple,” AA-96-006, from the week before! We have to give a great big “Thank you!” to Betty Taylor for looking back a week and calling in to give us the names of the people in her daughter’s wedding photo. They are: (I to r) Don H. Taylor, Betty Taylor, bride Donna Jean Taylor Jones, groom Marvin Michael Jones, Annette Jones, and Lt. Col. Marvin Jones. They were married March 21,1970 at First Protestant Church. “The Happy Couple” now live in Houston. Our “Family of Five,” AA-96-007, was recognized by JoAnn Robinette as consisting of: Eva Zipp Krueger, Elmer C. Krueger, Douglas Krueger, Preston Krueger and Doyle Krueger. What a great family portrait that we now have a family name for! AA-96-008, “Three Beautiful Ladies,” was a lot of fun this week. JoAnn Robinette did double duty in also recognizing these ladies, and our own Monday volunteer, Gerry Schwab Belton, also gave us the names of her friends in this picture. The ladies are Joy Zachary Schriewer, Gerry Schwab Belton and Molly Dillard. This week, we have a “Hard-Working Man,” AA-96-009. We just love this photo of this man but we have no idea who he is. Please help us and look close to see if you know him. We also have another house to put an address on, AA-96-010. Our last home we put in to have located did so well we thought we \96uld try again. We need to see if we could get the same response of where it is, who lives there both presently and past, and whatever history we can put with the address. Identifying these homes helps not only our photo collection but also our research department. It gives us a history to associate with the address for future reference. Let’s see how many people can call and let us know where this house is. Our “Sesquicentennial Minutes” book-signing last week was a big success! If you still haven’t bought your copy of this resourceful history of New Braunfels, hurry by and get one at either the Archives or Museum. As always, KEEP READING ... KEEP REMEMBERING ... KEEP CALLING ...629-1900! Youth ArtBeat announces logo contest March is National Youth Art Month and New Braunfels will celebrate with the second annual Youth ArtBeat. The festival, celebrating youth and the arts, takes place Saturday, March 30. Historic downtown New Braunfels will come alive with dancing, singing, bands and artists at their easels. Drama students will entertain, as will poets. The successful "Kids as Art" parade will again be a feature of the festival. Once again, downtown businesses will be filled with student art work, displayed to symbolize the event. And, once again, the Youth ArtBeat com mittee is looking for a logo to symbolize the event. The winning entry will be used on T-shirts, programs and posters. Students may use up to three colors in their designs; for printing purposes, black is considered a color. The theme this year is "Alive with Ait.” Designs should be submitted through school art teachers or to the main Street Office, Municipal Building, 424 S. Casten, New Braunfels. Deadline is Fnday, March I. For more information, call the Main Street Office at 608-2100.
