kick made it 357 Canyon quickly pulled to within 3514 after the Cougar defense held Calallen to three plays and a punt On first down George found Ricky Boehle on a crossing pattern for an 18yard touchdown pass The Cougars finished with more first downs 2022 and outscored the Wildcats 167 in the second half The 30 points was the most scored this season on Calallen which was allowing only six points per game Canyons first half deficit however proved too much to overcome The damage came rapidly In a three minute stretch of the second quarter the Wildcats struck for 28 points begin ning with tailback Woody Chambers 22yard scoring run and ending with quarterback Travis Fallens perfectly lofted 46yard scoring strike to Dickie Gonzales During that span the Cougars fumbled twice and botched a kickoff that was recovered by Calallens Jett Walker at Canyons 23 yard line The Cougars started strong in the third quarter driving to a first and goal at the Wildcat 4yard line Four straight runs by George yielded three yards and gave the ball back to Danaher and com pany The Wildcat fullback finished all192 yards on 28 carries and moved into third place on the states alltime career rushing list with yards Still Offermann proved more effective on this night rushing for 210 yards on 16 carries His 58yard scamper with about two minutes left in the game closed out the scoring and put him over the 200yard mark George completed 17 of 38 pass for 233 yards Boehle caught 10 passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns We played better in the second half but it came a little too said Boehle Those turnovers in the first half put us in a hole and it was hard to get out of Its over but but Im proud of what we accomplished this year I cant say enough about the guys on this team Everyone played new super conference The presentations went beyond the written proposals wed seen Iowa State president Martin Jischke said at a news conference on Friday Weve instructed Arthur Andersen to sharpen their analysis from two cities Kansas City and The presidents heard proposals Friday from Omaha Colorado Springs Dallas and Kansas City They had already hired real estate analysts from Arthur Andersen to evaluate the bids While we havent eliminated any body we are focusing our attention on Dallas and Kansas said adding it might be another month or two before a final decision is made Asked if this meant the Big 12 was inviting a bidding war Jischke said We have asked them to visit with the cities to clarify and enhance the pro Asked if this might result in the Big 12s gelling even greater concessions he said Rick Douglas president of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce said Dallas offer ranged from about million to million depending on which pro posed building site the conference chooses Sources said Kansas Citys bid was valued around million All offers have included free transportation and free telephone and computer equip ment I dont know what the other com munities Douglas said San Francisco By The Associated Press Texas Rangers announced Friday that the club has acquired outfielder Rikkert Faneyte from the San Francisco Giants for a player to be named later Faneyte 26 will
