now available as Christmas gifts By SUSAN FLYNT ENGLAND Staff Writer Take a walk around the plaza and you will see something new brick like stone pavers lining the sidewalk You may also find the perfect Christ mas gift for someone who has every thing or one who deserves a very spe cial gift A crowd of 50 or more braved chilly winds on Main Plaza Thursday to cel ebrate the plaza pavers They dont just beautify the plaza now said Main Street Director K C Crandall proceeds from the paver project will fund the restoration and beautification of downtown sidewalks for the future The sale of pavers is our biggest fundraiser for the sidewalk said Joyce Hendricks paver project organizer and motivating force The pavers and granite tablets can be engraved with names for a donation and a special holiday sales event is under way The money raised will help contribute to the downtown side walk project Already immortalized on the square are the first wave of New Braunfels German founders the citys mayors through Paul E Fras er families departed loved ones and more A section of pavers and a granite tablet are devoted to the Bruno Schwab fami ly I thought this was a way to enshrine my Schwab said That way my chil dren can come over there and see the whole family Volunteers spent hundreds of hours making the paver pro gram a reality K C Crandall Joyce Hendricks has put in over 500
