Juvenile suspected in Monday attack held after hearing By SUSAN FLYNT ENGLAND Staff Writer A juvenile is being detained following a Monday night assault which left a New Braunfels man in serious condition. Christopher Meurin, 19, is still hospitalized at Brooke Army Medical Center with face and head wounds. His progress during the first 72 hours of treatment will be critical to his recovery', said New Braunfels Police Detective Sergeant B. B. Boatnght. The juvenile who allegedly committed the assault had a hearing yesterday, after which he was detained. Boatnght said. Meurin was assaulted Monday night outside the Grand Cypress Apartments. New Braunfels Police responded to the call at 10:45 p.m. A pipe wrench was used as a weapon, according to a witness. The case is still under careful investigation, Boatright said. The New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung. A New Look For An Old Tradition. Antonia L. Rodriguez Mrs. Antonia L. Rodriguez, age 72, of Schertz, formerly of New Braunfels, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 1995 at her home. She was bom May 6,1923 in Converse, Texas to Benito and Guadalupe Lopez, both now deceased. Mrs. Rodriguez married Antonio Rodriguez on April 24, 1939. He also preceded her in death. She is survived by: daughters, Victoria Egbert, of San Antonio, Maria Jones of Amarillo, Louisa Johnson of Long Beach, Calif., Josefa Thompson of New Braunfels, Amelia Ford of Lake McQueeney, Anita Bronakows-ki of Slidell, La., Olivia Crockett of Austin, and Diana Carson of New Braunfels; sons, Guadalupe Rodriguez of Waco, Juan Rodriguez of Long Beach, Calif., Enrique Rodriguez of San Antonio, Fernando Rodriguez of Amarillo, and Jose Rodriguez of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister, Fermina Espinoza of New Braunfels; brother, Felipe Lopez of San Antonio; 35 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Maria Rodriguez, Petra Lopez and Juanita Martinez. Mrs. Rodriguez was a member of two associations: Sociedad Fraternal Mutualista of New Braunfels, and U.N. Mutua Universal of Universal City, Texas. The funeral mass will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 1995 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma with Father Conor McGrath as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 1995 at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from I until 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 and from 12 noon until 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28. Arrangements are with the Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk, Universal City. Paul Robert Mirth Paul Robert Muth, of New Braunfels, died at his residence Monday, Sept. 25, 1995 at the age of 62. Memorial services will be Saturday, Sept. 30, at I p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice New Braunfels, or to the charity of one’s choice.
