The annual College Night, which runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the school’s Commons area, is open to students at Smithson Valley and New Braunfels High Schools, as well as students from surrounding counties. “It’s for all students, not just seniors,” said Mathilde Shane, secretary in the CHS counseling office. “It’s an opportunity for students to pick up the information on different colleges.” A browsing area will be set up in the Commons arca for the 57 recruiters from junior and technical colleges, universities and military institutes. Representatives from all branches of the military also will be at the event to answer students’ questions, Shane said. ifs an opportunity for students to pick up the information on different colleges.’ — Mathilde Shane, CHS counseling office The Universtiy of Texas at Austin, Texas Tech, Southwest Texas State, Trinity and Texas A & M Universities, will hold 30-minute presentations in classrooms adjacent to the Commons area. A counselor from Southwest Texas also will give a presentation on financial aid options at state-supported colleges. Shane said most of the recruiters are from colleges around the state, but the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico and the Virgina Military Institute will have booths at the college night.
