crossing pattern for a nine yard touchdown Offermann converted on the two point conversion run from the swing ing gate formation Cougar defensive back Leighton White set up the scoring drive when he intercepted backup quar terback Jonny Rodgers wobbly pass in the end zone and ran it back 28yards to the Canyon 28 with left The Cougars marched 10 plays 72 yards for the scorei The scoring drive was helped by two key plays Georges 23yard pass to Brett Parrish and Offermanns 14yard run Parrishs catch put the Cougars at the Chaps 37 while Offermanns run on a draw play put the Cougars in scoring range at the 16 With their team way ahead Nunez Peays and Brees were pulled out before the final quarter After completing only one out of his first seven passes Brees went 9 of 11 the rest of the way for 152 yards Before the first half ended Brees had 123 yards passing Nunez got the majority of his yardage in the first half by rushing for 115 yards on nine carries Nowotny believes the Cougars will encroachment penalty against the defense a new rule this year moved the ball half the dis tance to the goal Ivey then did the hon ors of taking it in for the score with 43 seconds left in the half Grindles kick was good to make the halftime score 190 Smithson Valley Things went from bad to worse quick ly for Southside when Triesch took the secondhalf kickoff near his 10 and sprinted to paydirt Everest hit the two point conversion pass to put the Rangers up 270 less than 30 seconds into the half Southside went 62 yards on eight plays to get on the Scoreboard Joe Can tu scored from two yards out The extra point kick was blocked making the score 276 finished the night for the Cardinals with 138 yards on 23 carries Just to be safe Smithson Valley pro ceeded to get the touchdown back with a
