information at Zeitung office 75 years ago 1920 Arlene Krueger Scales Dittlinger Rocks Crusher About fif teen years ago H Dittlinger organized a company to erect and operate a lime kiln about three miles out from New Braunfels The first plant was small but the business was run on a conservative basis and the profits used in increasing its capacity and extending the business through adver tising and salesmen until quite an extensive demand was established throughout the a fourth of the rock in the hill surround ing some fifty feet in depth is high class lime rock The balance is a hard flinty rock which accumulated in immense piles of waste after the required rock had been hand picked for the kilns This waste was experi enced with and when concrete con struction came into its own it soon proved to be the very highest class of material for reinforced concrete The capacity of the plant was then increased by the addition of crushers for con crete rock and its growth was rapid from that
