New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - August 23, 1995, New Braunfels, Texas Herald-Zeitung □ Wednesday, August 23 ,1995 □ 9 We’re Meeting The Comal County Cancer Support Dialogue Group, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, in the North Building of Victoria Bank and Trust, 1000 N. Walnut. Anyone with cancer and their significant others are invited to attend, lf you Jiave any questions, call the ACS at 629-5717 or Marian Hicks at 629-1763. The New Braunfels Multiple Sclerosis Support Group will meet Thursday, Aug. 24 at noon at Ryans Restaurant. Descendants of Martin J. Dittmar (1803-1846) are invited to attend a brief memorial service in New Braunfels at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, dedicating a permanent bronze marker commemorating his death in 1846. The event will take place at the old New Braunfels Cemetery located on U.S. Hwy. 81 in the south-east part of town. A reception will be held after the ceremony at Krause’s Cafe. The Eagles Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m. for the monthly business meeting. Officers meet at 7 p.m. The Comal County Genealogy Society will meet Sept. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Victoria Bank and Trust’s North Building at 1000 N. Walnut St. The speaker will be Dick Robinette, president of the New Braunfels Independent School District. He will speak on Genealogy Bridges to Germany. Guests welcome. The Past Presidents of the Eagles Auxiliary will meet Monday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. at Krauses Cafe, Alma Williford will be hostess. TODAY'S CROSSWORD PUZZLE Amy Grunwald and Alision Damarodas Damarodas takes two awards at state Junior Miss competition New Braunfels was represented by two young women on Aug. 12, 1995 at the Texas Jr. Miss competition held on the TLC campus in Seguin. Amy Grunwald, 1994-95 Texas Jr. Miss, emceed and performed in this year’s program before relinquishing her title to Dickinson’s Jr. Miss, Parrish Hirasaki. Amy is the daughter of Rusty and Kerry Grunwald. She graduated from New Braunfels this past year and is attending Texas Lutheran College in Seguin with the help of scholarship money she received from the New Braunfels Jr. Miss and Texas Jr. Miss programs. Alision Damarodas, a senior at New Braunfels High School and the 1995-96 New Braunfels Jr. Miss, walked away with two awards on Saturday night. Alision was awarded Scholastic Achievement by the panel of judges and Spirit of Jr. Miss by her peers. Presenting the award to her for Spirit of Jr. Miss, and delighted to, was our very own Amy Grunwald, who herself had won Spirit of Jr. Miss at the Texas level last year. Alision is the daughter of Robert and Claire Damarodas.
