New Braunfels Herald Zeitung (Newspaper) - June 16, 1995, New Braunfels, Texas 2 A ■ Herald-ZeitunQ ■ Friday, Juna 16,1995 Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announces list of board members On May 18, 1995, more than 50 Sew Braunfels and Comal County res-dents attended a public meeting to iiscuss the formation of a new chamber of commerce in the area. Since hen, 19 people have stepped forward :o begin work on the Greater Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GHCC) in Comal County. The purpose of the GHCC is to establish a positive image for small and minority-owned business and to promote awareness about their resources to the general public. To strengthen the coalition of small and minority-owned business owners and to assist those interested in developing a network. In an effort to stimulate new business enterprises and increase capital development and marketing efforts, members of the board will assist in gathering and disseminating resource data about business, trade, education and civic affairs with the help of the Texas Association of Mexican-American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC). These objectives will take time to accomplish but with the following volunteer board, the proposed plans will become a reality. The GHCC is comprised of Hispanic Americans, African Americans, and German Americans and reflects our multicultural society in the U.S. and Comal County. Ron Gonzales, owner of Sol ms City Limits, has been elected chairman. Yolanda Longona, owner of Yolanda’s Tax Service, is vice chair. Dr. Carlos Campos, Campos Family Practice, chairs education and Cristina Aguilar-Fnar, marketing executive for Spsa, Bromley, Aguilar, Noble & Associates, will chair cultural awareness and international trade. The chairman of membership is Ramon Chapa, owner of Chapa Electric, and the chair of finance will be Lorenzo “Yankee” Camarillo, CPA. Dr. Alicia Gonzalez, DDS, is chairwoman for women’s affairs and Mario Castaneda, of Wholesale Beers, Inc., will chair promotions. Aurelio Ayala, paralegal, has volunteered to chair parliamentarian/historian and Nathan Millet, educator at Austin ISD, is treasurer. City councilman Juan Luis Martinez is chairman of protocol and Antanacio “Nacho” Campos, Esq., Attorney at Law, will chair legal affairs. Lee Osborn, with GLOCO, is chairman of networking/technical advisory and Mike Cruz, educator at Seguin ISD, will chair fund-raising. The chairman of economic development and design is Tony Amaro, owner of downtown real estate, and the sergeants at arms will be Chris Gomez, Southwestern Bell Company, and Mark Morales, state employee of the Texas Dept, of Transportation. The official secretary of the group is Sylvia Sanchez, of Sanchez Insurance, and the executive director is Nora Morales, retired, department of the U.S. Army. Sal. 9 6 Business Trade Show opens registration Show to start Sept. 12 at Civic Center According to chair of the Business Trade Show, Larry Wenzel, booth spaces are now available for sale to the public. “The show, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, has been a sellout in recent years and we anticipate that we will have a waiting list again this year,” said Wenzel. The popular event is scheduled to kick off on Sept. 12 with a Sneak Preview and mn throughout the next day. The Sneak Preview, held during the evening, attracts a large crowd and includes live entertainment, valuable door prizes, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and the opportunity to view the latest in products and services in the community.
