Save your cans The Humane Society of New Braunfels asks all residents to save their aluminum cans for the Paws to Recycle national aluminum can recycling program for animal shelters. The local chapter wants you to start saving your cans now, so it has a better chance of winning. The grand prize is $3,(XK) for the shelter that raises the most cans. The collection drive runs from Sept. I to Oct. 31. Gruene Market Days Clruene Market Days features more than IOO artists and craftsmen. It will be held in downtown Gruene May 20 and 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Water aerobics Water aerobic lasses will be offered at Landa Park pool beginning Monday, May 22 for ages 15 and up. Classes meet Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9 a m. to IO a.m. Cost is $3 per class or $35 per month. For more information, call Gayc at 629-6374. Linda Schlather, pnncipal of Seele Elementary School, would like to invite parents of children who will or might be attending Seele Elementary School for the first time in the 1995-96 school year to an onentation meeting. Step-parenting classes Being a step-parent is not an easy job, and being a good one requires some special skills and knowledge. Now there is help. Heritage museum Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country welcome and celebrate its future at the Fischer Community Center at the comer of FM 484 and Highway 32 (sign says Fischer Store School Community Center) May 25 at 10:30 a m. Bring a picnic lunch. We’ll get together to reminisce and exchange family histories and heritage and discuss our future. Summer Discovery Camp Park Rangers will lead youths between the age of six to IO in enjoying the out-of-doors, wildlife, nature studies, hiking, crafts, outdoor games, and environmental projects during the City of New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Discovery Camp in Landa Park. The camp will be held May 30 and 31 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pre registration is required and is being taken at the parks office until May 26. New Braunfels Polio Survivors Support Group will have its first meeting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at the Comal County Senior Citizens Center. Interested polio survivors, relatives and Down-homa cooking Cottage Kitchen will be hosted by members of the San Marcos Association of Retired Teachers, Friday, May 26. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to I p.m. in the Charles S. Cock House Museum, 400 E. Hopkins St. in San Marcos. No reservations needed and proceeds will benefit the Heritage Association. NBHS Project Graduation The New Braunfels High School Project Graduation Party will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 138 W. Austin, on May 26 from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Mission Valley picnic It is time once again for the annual picnic for the residents of the Mission Valley Community. Cleanup will be Saturday morning, May 27. On Sunday, the 28th, the gathering will begin mid-morning. A noon meal of barbecue and all the trimmings will be served. Meat, tea, coffee, soda and beer will be provided. Everyone attending is asked to bring a covered dish or salad and/or dessert. Former teachers and students of the school are invited to attend. Art and craft show The 31st annual Spring Art and Craft Show will be blooming with creative works Memorial Day weekend. Sponsored by the New Braunfels Art league, the show and sale will be held in the Civic Center Saturday, May 27 from IO a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 28, from IO a.m. to 5 p.m. Hourly door pnzes, and a framed personally autographed print bv Dalhart Windberg will be the grand door prize given at the close of the show.
