Braunfels passed away Wednesday May 3 1995 at his residence at the age of 78 He was born Sept iri Heame Texas to Charles W and Catherine Mable Marline Lewis Sr and married Gloria Elaine Cox on August 16 1963 in San Antonio A retired rancher and retired Major in the Air Force which included service in WWII and Korea he was a New Braunfels resident for 30 years He was a lifetime member of the Bracken Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church Mr Lewis is survived by his wife Elaine of New Braunfels his mother inlaw Etta B Cox of San Antonio sisters Lillian Phillips of Plantersville SJster Mary Ambrose Lewis of JJouston and Frances Grace Coon of Port Worth and numerous nieces and fliephews He was preceded in death by a brother Mike Lewis and two sis tgrs Catherine Cerelvo and Louise Muller A rosary will be held Sunday May 7 4t 7 at the Zoeller Funeral Home Funeral services will be held Mon day May 8 1995 at 10 at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Msgr Eugene OCallaghan officiat eulogy will be given by Mr Lewiss godchildren Catherine Cathy Galloway and Anthony R Gutierrez Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Pallbearers will be Allan Coon Lar jiy Phillips Tommy Wetuski Michaell Armstrong Marshall Armstrong and Sfaime Gutierrez I Honorary Pallbearers include Dr Wayne A Johnson Wat Smith George Gitcho Albert Schreiber Bob Gal loway and Larry Stehling Memorials may be made to Hospice New Braunfels fi Monette Neese Nelson Monette Neese Nelson age 90 was bom in Eureka Navarro County Texas on July 22 1904 to George E Neese and Annie Broyles and died on Thurs day May 4 1995 in New Braunfels She grew up in Penelope Hill County Texas where she taught school and graduated from Baylor University with a BA in 1927 She married Red Nelson of Waco on Nov 3 1924 They moved to San Antonio in 1931 and retired to their HiiVue Ranch in Comal County in 1966 Mrs Nelson was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Braunfels and was a former member of Laurel Heights United Methodist Church in San Antonio life member of the Blue Bird Auxiliary to Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital life member of United Methodist Women and member of the New Braunfels Con servation Society Mrs Nelson was preceded in death by her husband Nelson in 1990 and her son Nelson in 1984 Survivors include daughterinlaw Dorothy L Nelson of San Antonio grandsons Trey Nelson III and wife Charla of Austin and David L Nelson and wife Catherine of Mid land 7 greatgrandchildren Rachel Arline Anna Monette and Dorothy Vanessa of Logan Utah and Jonathan David Brian Allen Erin and Heather of Midland sisterinlaw Elizabeth Neese of Dallas niece Geneese Drew nephews Robert and Donald Neese and James Sinnot and dear friends who took care of her in her final years Eva and Roman Torres of New Brauiv fels Funeral services were held at 11 at Sunset Chapel with Rev Harold Zirkel officiating former pastor of First Home 630 Lakeview New Braunfels TX 78130 Sunset Funeral Home San Antonio John R Jack Zengler John R Jack Zengler of New Braunfels died at Southwest Texas Methodist Hospital Thursday May 4 1995 at the age of 73 years He was born August 5 1921 in North Canton Ohio to Howard and Hilda Schoeppe Zengler He married Elvera Terry Octken Kneupcr June 2 1962 in New Braunfels He lived in New Braunfels since 1957 Zengler was retired He had been employed by Richards and Kruegcr Lumber Company then owned the Home Service Center He was a mem ber of St Josephs Roman Catholic Chapel in San Antonio He was also a Realtor and was coordinator for the John Birch Society He was a World War II Army veteran A Rosary will be recited at Sunday at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home Funeral service will be at 9 Monday May 8 at St Josephs Roman Catholic Chapel 7815 Orland Park San Antonio Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in New Braunfels Rev Lawrence Novak will officiate He is survived by his being held in the Comal County Jail for certain minor offenses such as some Class C misdemeanors Sheriff Jack Bremer proposed charg I ing cities a day to house these types of inmates a measure meant to a lot of people being in there that shouldnt be in Class C misdemeanors cover such offenses as driving without a license or insurance and public intoxicaton for example The fee measure was part of a pro posed interlocal agreement the Com missioners Court approved Thursday allowing the county to enter negotia vtions with cities for jail services Bre Cmer said thisand other things could be before a final contract was j gained I1 Bremer came up with the figure that is what the federal agen jpies said it cost to house a prisoner that is what the county charges Ithe feds Bremer proposed charging amount to cities in order to be The proposal also includes provi formedicalliability as well The county can be held liable to pay med ical expenses for someone brought into the jail who might experience medical problems and need to be tak en to the hospital This contract assigns responsibili ty for the first 12 hours to the jurisdic tion that incarcerates those Bremer said Commissioner Jumbo Evans ques tioned what would happen if the city of New Braunfels for example started charging the county for or fire service calls outside the city juris diction City Manager Mike Shands said
