Mary Virginia Brinklcy Tina Studdard guest of Bren da Freeman Kathy Reeh daughter inlaw and guest of Mildred Reeh Ppggy Mann guest of Florine Schle ichcr Vicki Hamcl daughter and guest of Mclba Roth Caryl Ann Baker daughter and guest Adel Schneider and special guests of the club Kyra Brandt and her mother Jan Kclley from Golden ing the hostess committee for the brunch was Dcnisc Mund who was assisted by committee members Wai lie Mund Anne Miller Muclelyn Har ris and Delorcs Sevicr Hostesses for the Qay Forties Club Easter Egg Stravaganza Brunch are left to right Harris Anne Miller and Ruben Gonzales Richard Guggenmos Jason Hewitt Adam Jones John Kennedy Justin LaVergne Jose Lopez Josh McMillan Austin Moede James Moos Matt Nel son Michael Nunnery Cheryl Scott John Toeller and Danny Torres The of the team is Canyon Middle School elective teacher Layne Hendrick The team participated in two simul taneous chess exhibitions with Chess Federation expert David Lein bach and 1994 State Jr Champion Joshua Newsham Both Newsham and Leinbach won all their games except for one Jose Lopez earned draws with both players The team won first place at the Doric Miller tournament in Sun Antonio first place at the Fulkcs tournament in Round Rock and second place in the South Central Regional Tournament held at CMS They also finished 8th out of 22 middle school cams in the State Jr Championship held this March in Austin James Moos won the top Junior tro phy at the 1995 Fiesta Open Chess Tournament in San Antonio He defeat ed two highly rated players to earn his prize and his
