CROTEAU Interim Managing Editor The sale of Citizens Bank to a Minnesota company moved one step closer this week when the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis approved the application for the sale When completed the sale will leave New Braunfels with no locally owned banks In December New Braunfels Bancshares the one bank holding company that controls Citizens Bank signed a letter of intent to be bought by Norwest Corporation of Minneapolis In February the two companies signed a definitive agreement and submitted the application to the Federal Reserve The shareholders of Citizens Bank have approved the deal This is just one of many steps involved in acquiring a said Citizens Bank President Bill Cone We are so regulated nothing happens very The next step the last big regulatory Cone called it is a review of the sale by the Department of Justice The Justice Department reviews bank mergers to ensure they do not violate antitrust laws That should be pretty perfunctory We do not expect any concerns to be Cone said Cone said he expects that after the Justice Department gives its OK the sale will be closed in late May or early June Norwest has billion in assets and its stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange The corporation more than 600 banking centers They have been in Texas a long time with both mort gage ajid finance companies They are relatively new with banking as an LVN for Eden Home for 7 years The Medical Association and employers of Margie and Gracie wish to establish as a trib ute to the dedicated service these individuals provided to their com munity Their livesended suddenly on March but it is hoped that this scholarship fund will keep alive the spirit compassion integrity and professionalism displayed by Margie and Gracie throughout their lives
