Iambic pentameter, sonnet, haiku, anything but a limerick, they are all suitable for entry into the 13th annual Poetry Contest sponsored by the Greater New Braunfels Arts Council. Entrants may submit a maximum of two poems with a minimum of eight lines each. Poetry may be on any subject and in any form, except limerick. The poems may not have been previously published or performed publicly. Name, address, telephone number and grade and school (if applicable) should be noted on the back of the final page of each poem submitted. No information other than the poem should appear on the front of each submission. Categories are: grades 4 and 5, middle school, high school and adult. First place winners in each category will receive a gold medallion, $25 cash and passes to Arts Council member organization events. Second place winners receive silver medallions and third place winners are awarded bronze medallions. Prizes will be presented at the Arts Council General Membership meeting in April. The Poetry Awards Presentation will be followed by a reception for poets, family and friends.
