Authority GBRA have recently been appointed to the Boards standing com mittees for 1995 Walker of New Btauhfels Will serve as Chairman of the Ethics Committee and a member of the Audit Long Range Planning and retire ment and Benefit Committees Walker was appointed to his first six year term as a GBRA Director from Coma County in April 1994 by Gov Ann Richards to complete the unexpired term of former Director Olga Lara of New Braun fels In announcing the committee appoint ments GBRA Board Chairman Bill Black well commended Walker as an effective and hardworking committee member who will continue to represent the Board and his constituents in Comal County with enthu siasm and In addition to their regular duties GBRA Directors work closely with employees state and local elected officials and citizens of the Guadalupe River basin to share infor mation and plan for future water resource needs Appointments are made annually by the Board Chairman who also serves as an exofficio member of each committee The Audit Committee works closely with the GBRA staff and independent auditors employed by GBRA to determine and make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding fiscal policies proce dures and practices and the annual audit The Ethics Committee establishes and reviews standards of conduct for Board members and reviews compliance with state regulations The Long Range Plan ning Committee studies the growth pat terns and needs within the GBRA water shed including water quality and water supply issues and proposes plans of action to the Board to meet increased demands for water in the future The Retirement and Benefit Committee reviews and makes rec ommendations regarding all aspects of GBRA employee retirement programs and benefits Walker a native of Alice is a Regional Director for the Victoria Bank and Trust system He graduated from high school in Aurora Missouri and received degrees from the American Institute of Banking in San Antonio and the Southwestern Grad uate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University He is a member of the American Institute of Banking the Bank Administration Institute and the Texas Bankers Association Walker is president of the New Braunfels Industrial Foundation and a member and past president of the Noon Lions Club the Optimist Club the New Braunfels High School Athletic Boosters and the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce He is a former director of the Community Fund and serves on the External Advisory Committee of the Texas Department of Transportation and the Industrial Devel opment Loan Committee of the Texas Department of Commerce Bereavement Support Group can help grieving survivors If you have lost a loved one you are probably going through a period of grieving
