Wurstfest Association Joe Kuehlcr thanked the more than 200 members of the orga liization for their dedication and hard Vork during the 94 festival in his review of the year at the annual general niembership meeting held in January TJhe 94 event recorded the highest rtumber of paid admissions in the last five years In addition to hosting one of the most successful festivals in the country the organization makes significant con tributions to the community each year Those organizations receiving funds from the Wurstfest Association in 1994 in the form of contributions or program assistance included the Hum mel Museum New Braunfels Emer gency Communications Club Ameri can Legion Boys State Program Comal County Junior Livestock Asso ciation Project Graduation Comal River CleanUp United Way Comal County Womens Shelter New Braun fels Scsquicentcnnial Commission Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce Comal Independent Mens Outgoing Wurstfest President Joe Kuehler presents a momento to Bob Sohn at the associations annual general membership meeting Sohn served asDer Grosse OpaIn 1994 Association and the Community Ser vice Center The Wurstfest Association invest ed over in facility improve ments continued the Partnership Stu dent Exchange program with Braun fels Germany and assisted in fund ing longterm scholarships for gradu Newly elected Wurstfest President Bob Smith right congratulates 1994 Wurstfest President Joe Kuehler on a very successful year atcs of the three high schools in Comal 1995 and introduced other officers County elected by the Board to the mcmbcr Bob Smith was elected to ship as follows Rusty Brandt Prcsi scrvc as President of the Association in dentElect and Vice Presidents Larry Brumbclow Dennis Hcitkamp and Maurice Fischer Members elected to serve on the Board of Directors for 1995 include Dana Gold Ron DcStcfano Jeff Albrccht Carl Docppcnschmidt Hal Hcrbclin Rick Hcydcn Bruce Boycr Larry Kunkcl David Lamon Bill Reeves and Rocky Tays Smith appointed Scott Schumann and Harvey Haas to serve oneyear terms on the Board Also recognized at the meeting were Bob Sohn for his service to the orga nization as Grosse Opa during 1994 Gary Bird who served a total of nine years on the Board and as President in 1993 Milton Phair who served in an elected position on the Board for the past six years and Eddie Temple who served as a Board appointee during 1994 The Wurstfest Association is a non profit corporation designed to promote local commerce especially through tourism and to preserve and promote the communitys heritage The 95 fes tival dates are Nov 312 Valentine balloon baskets help abused children Emergency Childrens Shelter vol unteers began cutting and curling rib bon last week in preparation for their annual Valentine fundraising project Materials will be gathered and assem bled during the upcoming days for delivery on Tuesday Feb 14 According to project chairman Suzanne Hcrbclin this very successful method of raising funds for the shelter been conducted for the past six and is one of two major fund Iraising activities Balloon baskets are and may be ordered by calling the Shelter at 6290659 for New Braunfels deliveries by calling 3793248 or 3791282 I for Seguin deliveries Orders must be prepaid The Childrens Shelter is a nonprof it organization licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regu latory Services to provide temporary residential care for children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse neglect or aban donment children who have become the temporary responsibility of area law enforcement agencies and chil dren whose parents or guardians arc temporarily unable to provide neces sary care Ages of children in care range from birth to 13 years Proceeds from the Valentine Bal loon Basket fundraising project will assist in providing the basic needs of food clothing and medical care as well as recreation and supervision The Shelter also provides access to other special services such as enrollment in public schools field trips and special outings Individuals interested in volunteering for the workday scheduled for Satur day Feb 11 or
