Initiated after the College’s decision to offer credit courses this spring semester, this research project will endeavor to identify the educational plans and needs of six distinct groups in the community—high school seniors, older adults, business owners, New Braunfels college students, the local labor force, and nontraditional students such as out-ofschool youth, homemakers, and other under-served populations. This effort, initiated under the leadership of Paul Fraser, Mayor, is being coordinated with the New Braunfels Off-Campus Education Steering Committee. Mr. Bob Ristau serves as Chairman of this committee which is comprised of community leaders from business, education, local government, and the general community. The study’s timeline calls for mail-out surveys, personal interviews and other group meetings to occur in February. Of special note is a forum being planned to help identify the educational needs and priorities of area homemakers. A historically under-served population in most communities, the Steering Committee requested The New Braunfels Retired Teachers Association will meet Feb. 1 in the NBISD Education Center Board Room. There will be fellowship, coffee, and cookies beginning at 9:30 am The business meeting and program will begin at 10 a.m. with Mary Tymrak giving a slide presentation on her visit to the Czech Republic. ★Spurs* ★Phantom* ★Rodeo* gg 1-800-991-8886 Located Inside Marriot Riverwalk Fed Ex Overnight TAX The following is a listing of tax preparing professionals. The benefits of the study are threefold: For San Antonio College and other education providers, findings will enable education officials to more effectively select programs and courses, add efficiency to the process, and eliminate guesswork. For the City of New Braunfels, the study will provide valuable information for strategic planning, economic development, and also provide direction for the mobilization of resources aimed at addressing educational needs. Area residents stand to benefit as well. Documented evidence of need and preference will ultimately result in education programs and services geared to particular needs and preferences. A final report is to be published in April detailing findings, conclusions, and other recommendations. Everyone is encouraged to cooperate if asked to complete a particular questionnaire.
