died peacefully January after a brief nlness She was preceded in death by her parents Frank C and Maud Karbach of New Braunfels her son Robert frank Lowry her husband Rev M Dick Lowry pastor in die Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church and by her second husband Carl M Stromberger f She was born January 23 1912 in temple Texas and received a Bache lor of Arts degree from Southwestern University in Georgetown and a Mas fers of Christian Education from SMU Dallas Marjorie married Madison Dick Lowry in 1936 and lived as a devoted pastors wife serving Methodist church es in Waco Chatfield Troy Lakeview Rosa Hebbronville Center Point Karbach Goldthwaite Kenedy San Antonio Llano San Angelo Gonzales Hondo Stromberg er Hunt Bulverde and Blanco In many of Jhese cities Marjorie taught in the public school system Fol lowing Rev Lowrys death in 1979 she remained an active leader in the United Methodist Women and was an out Istanding church visitor at New Braunfels First United Jvlethodist Church J While at Eden Home Marjorie served as the official jgreeter of new residents and was president of the Resi dents Council 5 Beloved sister mother and grandmother Marjorie is sur Ivived by her sister Ruth Ellis and husband Bill of New JBraunfels her son Thomas W and wife Alaire along Jwith grandson Michael currently at the University of Texas and grandson Ethan all of Austin Jon wife Anna of Ker rville grandson Madison Matt at the UT Health Science Center and wife Deanna of San Antonio and grandson Taylor at SMU daughter Ruth Ann Biggers and husband Oliver along with grandchildren Gwynna and Oliver II all of Mercer Island Washington and daughter Elizabeth L Minton and husband Gary along with grand children Lowry Jake Karbach all of Dallas A service of celebration and thanksgiving to God for the life of Marjorie Karbach will be held at on Saturday Jan at the First Unit ed Methodist Church in New Braunfels with the Rev Fred Martin officiating The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to the M Dick and Marjorie K Lowry Ministerial Fund Perkins School of Theology SMU Dallas TX 75257 Earl S Dietert Earl S Dietert age 78 of New Braunfels died Thursday Jan at the Colonial Manor Care Center He was born Feb 17 1916 in Comal County to Bodo Dietert Sr and Alma Babel Dietert He married Marjorie Rose Dowdy on Oct in Boerne Mrs Dietert died in 1990 Mr Dietert was a retired farmer member of the First Protestant United Church of Christ Fraternal Order of the Eagles and was a lifetime member of the Freiheit Bowling Club Survivors are daughter Roxie Smeal of New Braun fels son Rocky Dieiert and his wife Linda of New Bravm fels sister Alma Nita Pape of Seguin brother Bodo Dietert Jr of New Braunfels four grandchildren Lynn Glen and Tina Smeal of New Braunfels Sandra Taylor and her hus band John of Uvalde Graveside services are Saturday Jan 14th at at the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park with Rev Richard Carse Wednesday Jan in San Antonio at the age of 82 He was born December in Flatonia to Frank Paul Haas and Alma Keil Haas and married Caroline Kro nkosky in New Braunfels on Dec Formerly of San Antonio he was a New Braunfels resi dent for the past 11 years During World War II he served in the United States Army Air Corp Mr Haas was a retired restaurant owner and a member of St Paul Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge of New Braunfels He also loved danc ing and was a member of the Starlite Dance Club Survivors include his wife Caroline Haas of New Braun fels a daughter Barbara Murdock and husband David of 4 Grand Prairie a son Albert John Haas Jr and wife Jane of Boeme two grandchildren David Murdock Jr and Jennifer Murdock of Grand Prairie and three brothers Edmund Haas of Del Rio Clifton collison in town early yesterday J morning sent one man to McKenna Hospital The accident occurred at approxi mately at the 900 block of Loop 337 According to reports a 1983 Jeep driven by a James Lindon of San Anto nio was headed north on the loop and apparently ran a red light A white Datsun driven by Ralph Wall of New Braunfels was headed inbound toward town with the green light and hit the Jeep said Officer Jesse Villarreal of the New Braunfels Police Department Witnesses confirmed the events said the officer The four occupants of the Jeep rang ing in age from 17 to 21 were thrown from the vehicle Gary Byrd of Bulverde the only Comal County resident was taken to McKenna Hospital where he was in stable condition Thursday afternoon said hospital officials The others were not seriously
