our own uredictiom Elizabeth Elliott No crystal I dont need one The spirit of 95 is in the air If you cant sense it youve been in that rocking chair too long But I could make the boldest wager on the outcome of this brand new year without blinking I could clean up on a fortune if I did Why am I so con fident The signs are First of all were having a Sesqui centennial Whats so great about that It means that every one of us can proudly claim this community as our own Well even let you new comers out there join the celebration Secondly three major arts organi zations New Braunfels Art League Childrens Museum and Circle Arts Theatre have done extensive renova tions upgrading their facilities and services Thirdly the businesses in town are becoming more and more aware of the intrinsic value of implementing and celebrating the arts So what think its pretty difficult to focus on the history the beauty the accomplishments and the wisdom of we the people of this community without the grace of healing taking place We need that Itll be subtle gradual without great struggle As it should be It will be a case of filling our circumscribed world with so much positive action that there will be no room for negative attack mode methods for change That doesnt mean being lulled into com placency about things we dont like It means giving the heaveho to Fear and helping Love do its work Too Pollyanna for you Actually its more pragmatic than you dream Two winners is ALWAYS a better outcome than one winner one loser As to those have you been inside either the Childrens Museum or the Art League building lately The museum fascinates ALL us kids and bit by bit the Art League Center is not only more func tional but becoming very attractive And thats what both places do more and more attract visitors And even though Operation Facelift is not totally finished yet pardon my pride over Circle Arts new exterior Now about those aware business Thanks to Karen Crandle the Downtown Association and every one involved in the Main Street pro ject the getting cooperative effort with its annual arts focus for students Its called Youth Artbeat Everyones getting the message Again its an accent on the positive telling our young people to JUST SAY LIFE Cards on the table Here they predictions for 1995 1 We will have a Sesquicenten nial festival that involves more of our citizens than any celebration weve had before 2 New Braunfels Art League will COMPLETE the repairs and renovations to its building by the end of this year 3 The Childrens Museum will exceed the highest number of visitors its had in the past 14 More local people as we as outoftowners will discover the quality performances at Circle Arts Theatre 5 More young people will become excited about the visual lit erary and performing arts than ever before 6 The arts in general will real ize more revenue through grants and contributions because of their own increased productive efforts 7 The Greater New Braunfds Arts Council will have its work cut out trying to choose the business that most deserves its ANNUAL ARTS AWARD 8 Last but most important ALL of us will grow so much in rue AGAPE look it up that surrout d ing towns will want to know what the secret is in managing our town so well Now the question is this Anybody out there want me to be wrong atlout these predictions Youll win Dr Edward M
