   New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung (Newspaper) - July 17, 1994, New Braunfels, Texas                                Personals Garden Kttle Car den of New Braunfels daugh ter of Linda Land V O Canter recently received a 4H scholarship Through the 4H she has been awarded the Silver Star and the Gold Star the highest award in She was chosen as a stale and national delegate for the Soci ety of Range Management and was allowed to attend the National 4H Congress in Chicago 111 for Range Ecology Finally she was allowed to represent Comal County at various occasions as their county council chair man Garden has had two main projects in 4H and has been active in many oth er projects as well The majority of her time was spent learning about rangeland ecology and in learning to raise and show brahman cattle She has also been involved in horse pro duction leadership citizenship health and safety and natural resource con servation She has been chosen outstanding band member of the NBHS band two time beef production winner in FFA a MidTexas Symphony Debutante a Whos Who awardee and a member of National Honor Society She was an international ambassador to New Zealand and Australia for the People to People Association Garden plans to attend Texas University majoring in range ecology She plans to earn a doctorate in range land ecology and then become a pro fessor at a Texas university or work for the Extension Service asa range spe cialist Erika Vasquez graduated from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester with a bache lor of music degree in French hom Vasquez a graduate of Piano Senior High School is a resident of New Braunfels The University of Rochester is one of the most distinguished private uni versities in the Northeast Approxi mately undergraduates are enrolled in its humanities science music engineering and nursing pro grams Dr William E Reeves of New Braunfels has completed continuing medical education requirements to retain Active membership in the Amer ican Academy of Family Physicians the national association of family doctors AAFP members are required to complete a minimum of 150 hours of accredited continuing medical study every three years The AAFP which has more than members is one of the largest medical specialty orga nizations in the country It was the first national medical group to require mem bers to keep up with medical advaftce rnents through tegular continuing med ical education Dr William E Reeves has been an Active AAFP member since 1981 As a family physician Dr Reeves is qual ified to work in all major areas of health care and trained to treat patients of all ages for the vast majority of health problems The AAFP which is headquartered in Kansas City provides educa tional legal insurance and lobbying services to its members and publishes American Family Physician a journal Two hundred sixtyeight South western University students have been named to the 1994 Spring Distinction List for academic excellence 159 student at Oklahoma Christian Uni versity of Science and Art has been selected as one of the countrys most outstanding campus leaders by Whos Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges Four New Braunfels residents have been named to the Deans List for the 1994 spring semester at Texas Lutheran College They are Michelle Ann Duncan a senior business administration major Judy Ann Noland a junior business administration major Susan Ruppcl who received a bachelor of arts degree in psycholo gy magna cum laude on May 7 1994 and Connie Lou Whitworth a junior multidisciplinary grade point average with a mini mum of 12 graded hours in the past semester Sonja Riggs Burk daughter of Vera Riggs of New Braunfels and a 1982 graduate of Canyon High School and a 1986 graduate of Texas University received the degree of mas ters of education in counseling and career development from Colorado State University in Fort Collins May Mrs Burk completed her 48 hour program with a
