Candidates for American Legion Boys State and the American Legion Auxiliary Bluebonnet Girls State have been selected from Comal County. Boys selected through Post 35 and their sponsors include from New Braunfels, Albert Guzenski (Wurstfest Assoc.), from Canyon, Kelly Kuykendall (Wurstfest Assoc ), Timothy Ousley (Post 35), Marc Castilleja (NB Optimist), Kent and Kelb‘y Schulz (Eagles), Chris Covington (Garden Ridge, Bracken Lions), John Crew (Comal Co. Sportsmans), Bernard Hildebrand, Jr. (VFW 7110), Michael Casto (VFW 7110), Greg Gitcho (Comal Co. Young Farmers), Corey Jay Schwar/. (Comal Co. Legion Post 35). Both Boys and Girls’ State arc sponsored by the American Legion and the Ladies' Auxiliary respectively. Boys State candidates arc selected for the June 4-10 conference held on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. They learn aspects of state government and participate in governmental procedures. Bluebonnet Girls State candidates will meet June 14 in Seguin on the campus of Texas Lutheran College.
