San Antonio New Braunfels 625*2358 SERVICE PARTS Mon. - Fri. 030*5:30 Sat. 6:30*230 By JANE JACKSON John Moler, Photographer We would like to begin by again trying to clarify our reason for printing this column in the paper each week. We have thousands of unidentified photographs and negatives in our holdings here at the Sophienburg Archives. We do not have documented identifications of the subjects who arc in the photographs that we run every week...otherwise it would not be necessary to print them. We do not have enough manpower with the knowledge that some folks have to positively identify every single subject whose face appears in these pictures. So...to those of you who think they do know everyone...we invite you to help us out by coming to the Archives to join a very dedicated group of wonderfully generous folks, and give us the benefit of your infinite knowledge...remember...our descendants many, many years from now will be rewarded by your assistance. To those of you who are obviously enjoying our efforts, and delight in seeing yourselves and your friends and neighbors in our pictures...we say thank you for all the laughs, historical facts, and local color you have added...and a special thanks for not hesitating to call us with the information we need. We have also picked up married names of many of our subjects which will aid in the future for those preparing family hi stories... which reminds me. . .if you have any family histories to add to our Archives. ..they would be most appreciated. Much information from our family histories has gone into “New Braunfels; The First Founders,” a book written by Everett Fey celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of New Braunfels, and available now at prepublication sale price. Let’s look at this week’s photos; AA-94-83 appeared in a 1951 New Braunfels High School Annual, but the subjects are unidentified. AA-94-84 is of a couple of “Western Cuties” who are evidently involved in an ad campaign for Span-O-Life batteries. Can you shed any light on this? Update on last week’s photos: AA-94-81 NBHS Band Officers are...Front Row 1-r: Fred Bactgc, Cecelia Haecker Luensmann; Melba Bose. Second Row 1-r: Judy Nuhn Morton; Myrtle Hanz Hassell; Darvin L. Dietert; Carroll Hoffmann; Gary Voigt; Molly Stobaugh. Back Row 1-r Karl Zipp; Randolph Kanz; George Nowotny Jr.; Rolf Amdt; and Preston Kronkosky. Our beautiful Majorettes are . .Front Row 1-r. Kay Lynn Faust Specht; Beverly Fellers Thompson; Marilyn Haag Shepherd. Second Row 1-r: Nancy Staats Chafin; Mary Lou Oberkampf Jung. Back Row 1-r: Mary Jane Fischer Staffored; Judy Nuhn Morton; and Joanne Hillje Hersh. A great big hug to each of our loyal and helpful readers who took the time and effort to call or come by. Thanks to Gaston Parsons, Elaine Dombusch, Leroy Seibert, Jean Pfeuf-fer to name a few. Keep reading .keep remembering...keep calling...200 N. Seguin.
