Bulletins :■ BASEBALL: Babe Ruth League begins registration ;• Registration for the 1994 New Braunfels Babe Ruth Baseball League will be held at the Babe Ruth held in Camp Comal Park, from loll on Feb. 19 and 26. V Leagues are offered in four age groups: 13-year old (Prep); 13-15; 16 (Prep); and 16-18. Each age group has a tournament schedule leading to the World Series. Player's age on July 31 determines his age group. Players age 13 and 16 can play in both leagues in their age group (13 Prep and 13-15; 16 Prep and 16-18). The Prep leagues give them experience before joining the older players. Babe Ruth also allows players to compete in other programs at the same time. To register, bring the player's birth certificate and the *25 registration fee. This will be the annual business meet- ill for the election of officers and policy making. New registration forms will be distributed to all manages. League play is scheduled to begin the week of March 14 for women, coed, church and men. AQ those interested in adult softball ase invited to attend. ■ NBGSA still looking for signups The New Braunfels Girls Softball Association still is looking for girls interested in playing T-Ball and slow-pitch softball, ages 15-16, and 17-18. Teams from Schertz, Universal Qty, Randolph AFB and Marion are looking for teams out of our city in the 15-16 and 17-18 division. lf your are not ready to hang up your cleats, then we want you. The team is part of a four-team adult football league, which will play teams from Seguin, San Marcos and San Antonio during its football season, which begins this fall. Games will be on Saturdays. The McDonald's restaurant owners of Texas, in conjunction with the Texas High School Coaches Association (TOSCA), have announced the return of the McDonald's All Star Games July 25 and 26. This year's games will move to Houston, with the basketball game scheduled for Hofheinz Pavilion on foe University af Houston campus and the football contest in the Astrodome. In addition, the TOSCA has named its selection for the McDonald's All Star coaches. Fa the basketball game, the North squad will be led by Dan Hemrick of Canyon High School in Canyon, while Mike Wacker of Converse Judson High School in San Antonio will head up the South team. The North football team will be coached by Stephenville High School's Ait Briles and Scott Phillips of Waxahachie will command the South team. Wacker is no stranger to the all star games. He played on the South team in 1980. He went on to lead the University of Texas to a 14-0 start, resulting in a No. 5 national ranking in 1981 and the school's best showing to date. He spent five years as an assistant coach at Southwest Texas State University before moving on to Judson, where he has taken the Rockets to the state playoffs fa the past three years.
