Babe Ruth Baseball League will be held at the Babe Ruth field in Camp Comal Park from 10 3 on Feb 19 and 26 Leagues are offered in four age iroups 13year old 1315 16 and 1618 Each age group has a tournament schedule leading to the World Series Players age on July 31 determines his age group Players age 13 and 16 can play in both leagues hi their age group 13 Prep and 1315 16 Prep and The Prep basketball and football players still have one mote big game left to play during the McDon alds All Star Games The McDonalds restaurant owners of Texas in conjunction with the Texas High School Coaches Associ ation THSC have announced the return of the McDonalds All Star Games July 25 and 26 This years games will move to Houston with the basketball game scheduled for Hofheinz Pavilion on the University of Houston campus and the football con test in the Astrodome In addition the THSC A has named its selection for the McDonalds All Star coaches For the basketball game the North squad will be led by Dan Hemrick of Canyon High School in Canyon while Mike Wacker of Con verse Judson High School in San Antonio will head up the South team The North football team will be coached by Stephenville High Schools Art Briles and Scott Phillips of Waxahachie will command the South team Wacker is no stranger to the all star games He played on the South team in 1980 He went on to lead the Uni versity of Texas to a 140 start result ing in a No 5 national ranking in 1981 and the schools best showing to date He spent five years as an assistant coach at Southwest Texas State Uni versity before moving on to Judson where he has taken the Rockets to the state playoffs for the past three years This past year Judson enjoyed its best season in school history ending the season with a 344
