Staff give a person a good feeling to know that Justice wins out over the bad guys especially in todays an excerpt from Kathie Balonis journal Kathie Balonis will be remem bered by her parents as a wonder ful sweet person who was excited about life She was only 24 years old at the time of her death some four years ago Balonis was murdered in her New Braunfels Oaks Apartments The person accused of her murder is Jack Warren Davis who was recently released from jail on a bond The Balonis family has said they cannot understand why District Court Judge Charles Ramsay decided to reduce bond I cannot comprehend how Judge Ramsay could lower the said Kathies mother Louise Balonis Is he sending the message to the rest of the United if they want to commit horrible norrendous crimes they can send their criminals down to Texas They can do the crime and well send them back Davis was convicted of Kathies murder in 1990 However his con viction was overturned by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in Austin He is currently being represented by Houston attorney Stanley Schneider Davis guilt has been thrown into doubt now that his attorney has questioned the validity of serology tests conducted by Fred Zain who worked at the Bexar County Med ical Examiners Office when the death took place Zain worked the Balonis evi dence and testified in trial However the Balonis family say they have no doubt that Jack Davis is the man who murdered their daughter He looks like an ordinary per son You can put a venomous snake in an ordinary box and put a lid on it but when the lid is taken off youll know whats in that said Louise Kathie had to die for us to know For us to know he is a As far as Zain lying that is up for a jury to said Louise Movin on Parents of murder victim say justice is not prevailing Kathie Balonis HeraldZettung photo by JOHN HUSETH Charles Balonis left and Louise Balonis parents of the late Kathie Balonis talk about their feel ings their daughters death and the kind of person she once was The key evi dence to me was the three eyewit nesses who saw him come and said Kathies father Charles Balonis He said he only went there one The Balonis Jack Davis family also said they believe the added media attention concerning the case is deliberate Schneider is pushing for every bit of media attention he can said Louise If there is no defense attorneys will play the system and court the The only thing egregious in this is what Schneider has done in the said Louise referring to statements by Schneider that this is the most egregious case he has ever worked with He has to know Davis is guilty I havent heard him proclaim innocence in the media Hes always talking about other said Louise The media keeps talking about whether or not the case will go back to trial They keep talking about the controversy with she said Kathie had worked as a school teacher for three years Kathie had a very inquisitive nature Thats why she became a school said Louise She was a very peaceable The superintendent evaluated her in her first year of teaching He said she was such a remarkable teacher it seemed she had been teaching for 10 years said Louise She and the kids had a great We would like to be with Kathie It would be a great comfort We will be some day We know where Kathie is She is in said Louise In order to cope with their daugh ters death the Balonis family has become involved with the local group People Against Violent Crimes and they also with Par ents of Murdered Children in San Antonio They said their other daughter Karen has also worked with people who have lost family members This has changed our lives Our lives will never be the same We try to remember the good times we had We were a very close she said There is far too much attention given to murderers rapists and Louise said in reference to todays society The victims are pushed aside They are called the accused corpse body All victims had a life They had somebody who loved them The had a name Kathie had a wonderful life and had a lot to contribute to I try to put myself in her said Louise There is at least 20 minutes that we know she was alive and being tortured That is not looked at because she is gone Peo ple dont want to look at what was said Louise Exerpts from the journal of Kathie Balonis The following are a few excerpts from Kathie Balonis journal These excerpts were
